First of all, I am already in the floral industry. I work for a very exclusive shop and I'm being trained to do more elaborate designs for corporations, weddings, funerals and other events which call for fresh floral designs. We don't do FTD type arrangements. I was looking for a book with an edge and different styles to practice at home and for other people who want arrangements when I'm not at work. Though the book does go into about 10 step by step instructions for fresh floral arrangements, a lot of the flowers are just not available to the consumer. If I did not have access to the Flower Mart here in Los Angeles, I wouldn't be able to find a lot of the foliage; greens as well as the flowers themselves. I looked as a consumer first, then found I couldn't find what I needed. Also, when I saw the book online, which is where I purchased it, I thought it was all about fresh floral design, because those were the keywords I used. The book covers areas on planters and silks and drieds, which make up most of the book. If I had thumbed through the book in person at at bookstore, instead of looking at the cover and going on just the write up on the book itself online, I would have never purchased it.
