    Must Reading

    This book is well organized, thorough and understandable. Beginning with an overview of HDR photography, each chapter flows logically from the previous. Key points are illustrated with an analogy and with superb photographs. How to do HDR photography is clearly written and illustrated. There is a basic tutorial on the use of common HDR software. The strengths and weaknesses of each software program is stated and illustrated. Readers will have an excellent foundation to recognize when HDR photography should and should not be used, how to obtain photographs in sufficient number and at the right exposure values to merge for an HDR photo. The need for tone mapping and the options for doing it are clearly explained and reinforced with diagrams and photographs. Those who read this book are ready to do HDR photography. This is an excellent primer and also an excellent reference for those doing HDR photography.

    Very Well Written

    This is the most clearly written (non-technical) book dealing with HDRI I have read. Mr. McCollough explains many aspects relating to the how's and why's of taking the source images and then continues with creating the HDR file, followed by an explanation of the tone-mapping process.
    Having read several other books, I delved into the HDRI process and quickly realized those books were lacking in several areas. With experimentation I expanded my capability and through experimentation developed a few techniques and hypotheses of my own. When I picked up this book, I found that Mr. McCollough had also found them, and had put them to paper.
    This is the book I refer others too when they express an interest in HDRI and have used it in a college class for image blending and HDR Panorama.

    HDR STARTER MANUAL

    I found that this book will take you through the HDR process from stat to end. The one requirement is that you UNDERSTAND photoshop and its concepts.

    Beautiful and Helpful Guide to HDR Imaging

    HDR Imaging has become the "next big thing" in Digital Photography, and while there are many books on the subject, this one is kind of unique. The chapters on theory and usage are scattered between chapters on the HDR work of individual photographers, giving the reader some fabulous images to view and try to emulate. The whole book is laid out very nicely with highly readable fonts. It is a joy to read, and a book that I will refer back to many times. My only gripe is that while the author tried to be comprehensive in his review of HDR programs, he neglected to comment on some the most interesting programs that run on the Macintosh platform, which has a high market penetration amongst Photographers. But, still highly recommended!

    Outstanding book

    If your getting into HDR Photography then this is one book you will want on your reading list. McCollough does an excellent job giving you guidelines to go by, even though every shot has different settings, it's a great way to get started with some great results. This book is about the methods used to get the HDR results, not about the authors photograph's, like most books. Recommend it Highly!

    Not worth the money!

    Basically the book tells us to bracket our shots - 6 would be good - and buy the software to combine the photos using the best highlights and lowlights, as well as what's in between. It has good photo illustrations and info on software apps but to me it wasn't worth the 25 bucks
