Absolutely fabulous, a must read for any person learning how to write grants!

I love Waddy Thompson's The Complete Idiot's Guide to Grant Writing (Third Edition). Brilliantly written and organized, this book is a true find. Step by step, he beautifully covers all the necessary aspects for writing a successful grant, building the pieces logically until they form the comprehensive whole. The sample letters and budgets, which supplement his explanations, are invaluable. Together, the book forms the perfect tool for putting together an exquisitely effective proposal, simply by following the guide chapter by chapter. I feel this book is an absolute must for any person learning the craft, be it a freelance writer who is branching out into a new field, a lone artist in his/her studio, or a staff member of a large development department in a prestigious organization. Talking about freelancers, especially valuable is his chapter for the independent grant writer. Here he clearly and magnificently outlines the process of becoming a freelancer, giving detailed information of what to say, and even what to charge for a grant proposal, so that you feel extremely comfortable presenting yourself to a client. It is the bible for answering any questions or lending moral support in the increasingly important and difficult field of fundraising. An absolute winner.
