This book focuses on using WordPress as the web authoring tool... which isn't evident from the preview. While many developers like using the basic capabilities of WordPress for cranking out web pages, I personally find WordPress' interface confusing and poorly thought out. A book that using a true Web Authoring software package approach or just basic HTML and CSS syntax would help the reader learn more about true web page development.

I agree that when you buy a book called HTML5 and CSS3, you don't expect to have half the book dwell on CMS's. However, if you ignore the CMS parts, which I did, the parts about HTML and CSS has a lot of detail packed in and is about as clear and understandable as I have seen. The color reference insert and other appendices are very useful.
