More About This Textbook

Overview

The Complete Jewish Bible shows that the Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation, is a unified Jewish book, meant for everyone--Jew and non-Jew alike.

David H. Stern, born in Los Angeles in 1935, is the great-grandson of two of the city's first twenty Jews. He earned a Ph.D. in economics at Princeton University and was a professor at UCLA. In 1972 he came to faith in Yeshua the Messiah. He then received a Master of Divinity degree at Fuller Theological Seminary, did graduate work at the University of Judaism, and was active in the Messianic Jewish movement. In 1979 the Stern family made aliyah (immigrated to Israel); they now live in Jerusalem. Dr. Stern authored the "Messianic Jewish Manifesto". His highly acclaimed English translation, the "Jewish New Testament," restores the New Testament's Jewishness. His "Jewish New Testament Commentary" discusses the many Jewish issues found in the New Testament. His fresh translation, the "Complete Jewish Bible", expresses the unity of the Tanakh ("Old Testament") and the B'rit Hadashah ("New Testament"). This outstanding, scholarly work offers Bible readers a thorough, biblically Jewish version of God's word.

Complete Jewish Bible by David H Stern

Good source to read with another version of the Bible. I prefer the New King James Version. After reading my daily scripture in the "Complete Jewish Bible", I will also read the same in my King James Version to get a better understanding. I find the keeping of Hebrew names very interesting. Since this translation appears to be directed towards Jews, I can understand why the keeping of the Hebrew names. Although I am a born Jewess, I love the name of God and Jesus in every language. But I do understand and I fully accept this translation as being a very good source for Bible study. It will definitely remain with me for further study. I am also happy to be an owner of this translation as it will make it easier to witness to other Jews. Thank you.

    I Also Recommend:

This is the best bible out there for any serious bible reader!

My mom has this bible and loves it so I decided that I would read it and see if I loved it as much as she did. I did. It's a great bible if you don't like Old English and it's translated by Jews so it's in a Jewish perspective, but very easy to follow. I'm 12 and love to read it with family or alone because I understand it pretty easily. But not a children's bible so good for adults too. Also durable because of the hard cover. Hope you love it as much as we do.

    A fraud!

This is not a Jewish book. It is a Christian book.

Dr. Stern is a Christian. He does not give you the Jewish Bible - he gives you the Christian Bible .... along with dubious (and non-Jewish) interpretations of Hebrew words and Jewish understanding of Jewish texts.

Buy this ONLY if you know what you are getting.

Yes, it is a Bible for Christians, written by a Christian Jew.

Yes, it is a Bible for Christians, written by a Christian Jew.   What is fraudulent about that?  My son bought one and after being pleasantly
surprised, he bought me one.  Being non-Jews, it gave us a perspective we would never have gotten from our usual Bible sources.
I LOVED it so much I've read it through several times and am gifting my granddaughter with one.  I like that it is written in plain English
and reads like a book.  I'm not much on just reading various passages here and there - I like to read the whole engrossing true story!
But I did have trouble with the Jewish names - I cannot pronounce them.
