Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
A professional speaker, Monkhouse has come up with a guide to public speaking that is a little out of the ordinary. While he gives the usual hints to speakers--rehearse, practice breathing techniques, concentrate--his main thrust seems to be to give advice on making a speech amusing as well as interesting and informative. He packs his book with anecdotes and one-liners, some targeted for specific situations. While this is not a basic how-to book like Arch Lustberg's Winning When It Really Counts or Reid Buckley's Speaking in Public (both LJ 9/1/88), it would be a good addition for libraries that have those books or others like them.-- Rebecca Wondriska, Trinity Coll. Lib., Hartford, Ct.
