    Where's the poetry?

Title says "complete", however, it does not contain his poetry. His "complete" body of "work" includes his poetry, and various nonfiction pieces as well. The title is misleading.

A good collection, but problematic on the Nook

I love Edgar Allan Poe, but there are some issues with this book on the Nook. I was just reading "The Balloon Hoax" and noticed that the formatting was pretty screwed up in some places. Random question marks appeared in many spots and words appearing at the end of a line were often broken up in a manner that was genuinely confusing at first glance. For example, in once instance the word "give" was at the end of the line, with "gi" appearing at the end of one line and "ve" appearing at the beginning of the next line. I kept reading and when I hit the end, I noticed that the title of the next story ("Bernice") was at the bottom of the last page of the current story rather than a new page. I realize these things don't make the book impossible to read by any means, but they are somewhat disappointing. Keep in mind this is a brand new Nook (just got it on Christmas) and that this book was my first purchase, so I would guess that the problem wasn't on my end, although that's certainly possible. I really hope there aren't more problems like this in the book and that these kinds of issues aren't widespread. Still for $1 it's hard to complain.

It may just be me, but . . .

Do all compliations of this sort not have a working index? 1,000 pages, and I can't get to the Stories using the link provided, which I think is somewhere around page 300-600, but I don't remember. Every time I click the link, it takes me back to my B&N Library. Very poor execution. Either that, or it's just me. Once I can figure out where the short stories start, I guess I can bookmark it. What a waste of $.99

Mind you, I love Poe, and did manage to read "Some Words With a Mummy" before the whole thing went south. I started reading his work as a youth, and have enjoyed him for decades, literally.

    Working as intended

I'm currently reading this on my nook color with NO ISSUES. Full navigation of all items, no random characters, and none of the issues reported in previous reviews. If you had a "faulty" version, I suggest archiving then unarchiving the title to get the most recent version of this.

I'm So Happy I Can Take Poe With Me Where Ever I Go.

I'm not sure why people are having problems with this e-book download. I've always been able to get to all his works, which include his poems and stories, using the links in the beginning. This e-book mirrors my "Complete Works of Edgar Allen Poe" hardcover real book. Within this goldmine of fantastic writing, I suggest reading "The Gold Bug" which has become my new-favorite Poe Short Story.

    Extremely dissatisfied with this purchase

Index does not work properly. Only index contains four links, and the "Stories" link does not work. Sure, it's only $0.99, but it's free from Project Gutenberg (as a collection of five volumes) and has better indices. Also has DRM.

    Recommended for sure!

Poe was an amazing writer and I LOVE his stories (and everything else) so much. I couldn't resist the price and when I got it, I immediately tried the links, since a person left a review saying they didn't work. The links have worked perfectly for me, and I have tried quite a few.

Badly rewritten portions of his work

The Cask of Amontilado story had the word cask changed throughout the story and it was rewritten in such a way as the humor was totally lost. Other stories had different wording than the original. A lot of his works were not included. Very dissapointing.

Definitely not what it says it it

There is no table of contents like the description indicates and this appears to be one of a set of books. There are also a SIGNIFICANT number of random characters mixed in with the text so it's a mess. Even for free, it's not worth the download.

    Not so good

This is a google book and while i appreciate the archive project very much, it doesn't mean these are easy to read or navigate. There are a LOT of characters that the ocr software obviously missed which makes this hard to read. There are no links in the table of contents. Also the title should tell you that this is volume 8 of 10 (criticisms) - this makes it impossible to tell which of your same title books is the one you want. None of the pay versions i've looked at are any better which is why i will stay with a print version for now.

    Aweful!

Look, when I got it, it was free, so I ignored the previous reviews. Something went horribly wrong and everything looks like gibberish though. If it costs something, trust me, its not worth it.

    Classic for a reason

If you have not read EAP, you should. He brought a vibrancy and respectability to American literature.
