COMPLICATED BY YOU is an erotic new adult novel, with language and scenes not suitable for readers under the age of seventeen.

COMPLICATED BY YOU is a sexy New Adult love story about a girl who loves so deeply that it may cost her everything.

“Sometimes love makes you do dumb shit. Stuff that you always told yourself you would never do, that you’d never let happen. Then you fall in love and all those limits shatter away like glass.”

"He spun around and stopped my talking with a kiss . . . and not just any kiss, but one that ignited flame to wick and set a blaze through me. I burned into a crispy husk of ash and need."

Evie's childhood friend Jay has always had her back. But college complicates things as Jay starts dating Evie's roommate Cynthia. Now, Evie spends her nights trying to sleep while Jay and Cynthia go at it like rabbits a few feet away!

Evie hates feeling like a third wheel and hates wishing it was her in Jay's arms even more. It doesn't help that Jay won't let Evie date or even hook up without interfering and making sure everyone on campus knows that she's off limits.

Something has to give. Evie can't continue pining away for Jay, and Jay can't continue to act like he owns her when he won't so much as touch her. And worse of all, Evie can barely look Cynthia in the eye for fear she will know just how she feels about Jay.

Then one night shifts Evie, Jay and Cynthia into an web of love and deceit, tangling their hearts and forcing one of them to come to a compromise that will change all their lives.

How far should someone go for love?

Until it’s no longer convenient, or until it’s tearing apart their soul? Evie soon realizes that love isn’t always easy and loving someone isn't as simple as it seems. Sometimes, it's COMPLICATED.

"Wow, this is the first book I've read by this author. I will definitely read more. Evie and Jay had me at hello." -- Steph Ralls

"Thanks for letting me read this. It was steamier than I'm used to, but I fell in love. My heart broke and I laughed." -- M. Leighton

"I'm not in the book club, but my daughter told me I had to read it and WHEW. It was hot!" --Annonymous

Meet the Author

Kenya Wright always knew she would be famous since the ripe old age of six when she sang the Michael Jackson thriller song in her bathroom mirror. She has tried her hand at many things from enlisting in the Navy for six years as a Persian-Farsi linguist to being a nude model at an art university.

However, writing has been the only constant love in her life. Will she succeed? Of course.

For she has been coined The Urban Fantasy Queen, the Super Iconic Writer of this Age, The Lyrical Genius of Our Generation. Granted, these are all terms coined by her, within the private walls of her bathroom as she still sings the Michael Jackson thriller song.

Kenya Wright currently resides in Miami with her three amazing, overactive children, a supportive, gorgeous husband, and three cool black cats that refuse to stop sleeping on Kenya’s head at night.

Within the first paragraph, the author sets the tone for the story. She dumps the readers right in the middle of this messy love triangle with little warning. However, it also give the reader a chance to know right then and there if this is the book for them. You see, when the reader starts this book, they are immediately thrown into a very interesting situation that involves voyeurism.

I must admit that I never had the college dorm experience. So for all I know, people hook up and have sex while their poor roommate is on the other side of the room trying to sleep. So it took me a while to get comfortable with the whole thing and in the end I still found it to be a bit messed up. Especially when you’re screwing your girlfriend with your best friend/chick you’ve been in love with since you were young, not even 5 ft away from you trying to sleep. So yeah, it’s easy to say I had some problems with Jay.

The major redeeming quality for me (aside from Kenya’s writing) is Evie. She’s a very strong person. Even when Jay approaches her to sleep with him while he’s still dating her roommate, she holds strong and doesn’t relent. Of course, there are a couple of slip ups but she doesn’t fully buckle under the pressure. She knows what she wants and she’s not going to compromise and sneak around just because that would be easier. Which of course is Jay’s logic.

I did really enjoy this story and not because it’s filled with such delicious smut. It’s the first book by Kenya that I’ve read and I must say that she has a writing style that speaks to me. She keeps the story simple and doesn’t bog it down with minute details. Even though I may not be on board with all the situations that take place in the book, I was still engrossed in the story until the very end and am curious with how it all plays out in the second book.

I loved reading Complicated by You by Kenya Wright. The relation

I loved reading Complicated by You by Kenya Wright. The relationship between Jay and Evie is fun, unique, steamy, and genuinely frustrating at times. That said, I adored the closeness between Evie and Jay. They're a perfect balance for each other. I did find it a little unbelievable that it would take so long for Jay and Evie to realize they mutually have feelings for each other, but it seems both were a little in denial.

I have to admit that Ms. Wright blew me away with the twist with Cynthia. I kept screaming NO in my head and it really made me a little angry at Jay. To put Evie in such a weird position really left her no options if she wanted to be with her best friend. Overall, Complicated by You was entertaining to read and at the same time a little frustrating, but I think Ms. Wright did a wonderful job bringing to life the characters. I immediately felt a connection to Evie, Jay, and Pipe. I can't wait to see what book 2 brings! I'm sure more hair pulling, but that's okay this one was totally worth it. ;)

I gave this book 3.5 stars.

Wow! What a way to start a book! The author just throws us right in there!

Evie and Jay, friends since they were kids and secretly in love with each other. The problem? Evie's roommate is Cynthia who just so happens to be Jay's girlfriend. When Evie and Jay finally admit to each other their feelings, Cynthia makes a request that shocks them both.

Unsure what to do, Evie believes the worst and starts to think that her and Jay will never be together.

I'm mad at the 3 of them for being so selfish and I found myself frustrated with them quite often throughout the book. I just wanted to smack some sense into them!

I'm not sure what to think of this book. I didn't like the ending. I felt like there should have been at least one more chapter before the epilogue. The epilogue tells us what's happening 2 weeks later, but I would have liked to read more about how Evie handled those 2 weeks. She didn't just jump into the relationship without reservation so I know those 2 weeks weren't as easy as pie for her. I guess we'll see how book 2 starts out.

I don't mind reading about a ménagé, but this one didn't quite sit well with me. I think it was the ending. I haven't yet made up my mind about continuing the series with book 2. I gave it 3.5 stars because the storyline does stand out from the rest of ménagés I've read and is very well written.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thanks for the opportunity to review!

I felt this story was well written, with very few grammatical/spelling errors. Honestly, errors aren't a big deal to me so long as I can follow the story, but they are important to some people. I'm also not an English major, so there were probably errors that I didn't notice. For me, the story flowed well and at a good pace. It was a quick read (I finished it in about 3 hours). It grabbed my interest right from the start and was pretty steamy.

This was the first story I have ever read with this subject matter. I had no idea it was coming and was very surprised. I think it caught me so off guard because Evie seemed like such a strong person in the beginning of the story (other than being afraid to tell Jay how she felt about him).

I will probably read the rest of the series to find out where everything goes from here. I am hoping that some of the characters will actually stand up for themselves in the future. Everyone seems to be in a relationship he/she isn't totally happy being in.

I would have to agree with the other ratings on this one. I was very into the story up until Cynthia and Jay joined in on the skinny dipping scene. From there it just turned awkward. That is the point where I would have told Jay to take a hike and let me live my own life. I feel Jay should have kept his 2 day promise with no sexual activity between him and either of the girls until that was cleared up. If he loved Evie as much as he claimed it would have been a no brainer and Cynthia's proposal would not have even been tempting enough for him to disrespect or risk the chance of losing Evie. If I were in Evie's shoes I would lfeel like a 3rd wheel. Cynthia doesn't want to have a sexual relationship with her boyfriend but it is okay for Jay to keep his girlfriend and just use Evie for sex. HELL to the NO! I feel Jay and Evie should have ended up together in a 2 person relationship after the 2 day period when it was supposed to begin. I also think Cynthia's secret keeping should have turned out to be something completely different, maybe a scenario where she didn't end up alone just not with Jay. Will probably not read any of the follow up story's to this book. Jay wants to have his cake and eat it too, not cool! Evie needs a real man

    Different.....in a weird way.

I sincerely liked how this book started but the ending was a little more than awkward for me.
