The clue to this book is in the title - complicated is spot on! The pacing to this book is nothing short of frenetic, which can make things a little confusing. I did have to re-read sections on occasion, just to get things straight in my head, as there is simply so much information and action packed into this volume. Mia is becoming more and more frustrating to read about - she simply keeps making the same mistakes over and over again. I just wanted to shake her until she got her head on straight! That said, the chemistry between her and Ethan practically drips from each page. And so, despite my issues with Mia, I do still feel invested in their HEA. Overall, a worthy sequel. I cant wait to read the conclusion! I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

VERY INTENSE!!!!................. Title: Complicated Author: M.M. Koenig Genre: Romantic Suspense Format: Ebook Pages: 356 Rating: 5 Setting: Chicago Main Characters: Mia, Ethan Supporting Characters: Bri, Trey, Jackson Summary: Secrets are revealed and Mia finally lets her friends start helping as Ethan pulls some of his friends in to help. Nothing is what it seems and who knows from where the next threat will come. Thoughts: Damn…. The last few chapters were intense! I really wanted to tell Mia to stop feeling so bad about lying to Ethan since it’s obvious that he’s keeping secrets too. That was about the only thing that was really annoying me about Ethan, he liked to remind her and make her feel guilty even though he had secrets. TONS of secrets get revealed and most were totally unexpected. FYI, it’s a cliffhanger on this one and a total jaw drop. I still really like Mia and don’t at all think she is selfish but I do think she needs to stop trying to push her friends away to keep them safe because ultimately they won’t be safe. It’s the reason why superheroes keep their identity secret, so their loved ones don’t get used as bait to draw them out. Mia doesn’t seem to think about that but fear overrides logic most of the time so it’s a bit understandable. Favorite Quotes: “My morning started well before sunrise, mostly because sleep and I were very much still enemies” – Mia “I didn’t chase you Mia. You can’t chase something that is meant to be. We’ve always belonged together.” – Ethan I received a free copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

I received this book from Enticing Journey Book Promotions' Bookshelf in return for a fair and honest review. As with book 1, Conflicted, the title of this book is absolutely spot on. It IS complicated, with more secrets, lies, twists and turns than you can shake a stick at. I appear to be having a love/hate relationship with these books because there are quite a few moments when I actually dislike what I'm reading but then it can all swing around at the drop of a hat. For myself, the majority of this book is a 3-star read. It's good, just not anything to shake your pom-poms about. But then, the last 10% of the book happened and wow, it was excellent! It blew me out of the water and I had tears, heart pounding and pulse racing issues whilst I read. It was definitely this portion of the book that upped it to a 4-star read for me. Okay, so a bit about the characters now. Mia - I still can't get to grips with her. I don't particularly like hearing about her which makes the whole thing a bit difficult when it's written the way it is. Ethan - I actually liked him in the first book but I find myself not wanting them to be together more and more. Ethan spends most of this book making Mia feel guilty over lying to him when he is the one doing the same thing and more. You should not have to walk on eggshells around someone you love nor be afraid to ask questions. Their relationship isn't healthy and I keep hoping that Mia will end up with Jackson, the playboy, who has an honest friendship for Mia that could turn into something else given the chance. Bri and Trey have their own hurdles to cross in this book but they tend to take the backseat to everything else. A difficult book to read or review but I can still recommend it. It is certainly controversial enough to make it stand out from the crowd - you can decide if that's a good thing or not for yourself. Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
