    great but not for beginners

    This is a fantastic resource of chin na application, not only is it usable for Shaolin or Kung fu practitioners, but also for other styles who use various restraining techniques: Aikido, Hapkido, Jujutsu etc. The book literally has 100's of applications. It's not for beginners though, you need some experience to get the most out of it, and of course willing training partners. I use it as reference to my classes.

    The phantom whose presence is found in most martial arts

    This is the only author/stylist who I have come across that will thouroughly explain application and how it can be countered. With most authors I get the impression they believe there are no flaws in their technique. To have a technique and show their vulnerability when facing a knowledgable opponent is almost unheard of.
