Patsy shoved a mushroom into her mouth. God, it was hot. She took a cool sip of her drink to stop the burning sensation on the roof of her mouth. "So, how's Rhianna doing?"
Maureen rolled her eyes. "She's driving me nuts. Her attitude is ... well, ask Crystal. She saw a demonstration the other day." She stared at Crystal. "Am I right?"
Crystal nodded. "She's pretty ... moody. But what teenage girl isn't? Jordan has her moments too."
"You're too kind. She failed a class last semester, so she spent the summer retaking it. And blamed me for ruining her summer. Can you believe that? She stayed two weeks with Jeff and Darla or Marla or whatever the tramp's name is. Actually, Rhianna and her have a lot in common. They're only like five years apart. I think Darla/Marla still plays with Barbie dolls. Rhianna's way past that stage."
"Oow," Crystal and Patsy said together.
"But seriously, I worry about her. She'll be eighteen in no time. I think she slept with her last boyfriend, which she vehemently denies." Maureen stared into her glass. "I found condoms in her room. I always thought she'd talk to me about that before she did it."
Crystal cringed. "The thought of Jordan having sex in a few years scares the crap out of me."
"At least Rhianna's using protection." The nurse in Patsy often said her piece, which didn't necessarily jibe with the conservative Southern Baptist woman deep inside her. Her mother's voice played in her head. No man's gonna buy the cow if he gets the milk for free. She smiled at the memory. "Are you dating anyone, Maureen?"
"Who's Patrick?" Crystal crunched a celery stick.
"Well, he's well endowedand the only thing he asks for is fresh batteries every now and then. All he says to me is bzzzz."
