Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
CompTIA's popular A+ certification has been thoroughly revamped: Now you must pass an Essentials exam, plus any of three "Advanced" exams: Depot Technician, Technical Support Technician, or IT Technician. There's significant overlap among these advanced exams, and you might not yet know which one to take. So it makes sense to get a book that covers them all, thoroughly and well: CompTIA A+ Exam Cram.

The Exam Cram books pioneered the certification study guide category, and they're still well-deserved leaders. This title offers more than 1,200 pages of up-to-date content: from ports and peripherals to advanced troubleshooting and upgrades, networking and security to customer service. There are loads of practice questions, in the chapters and on CD-ROM. We especially like these two features: hundreds of "Exam Alerts" pointing out knowledge areas you should especially focus on, and new "Challenges" that apply what you're learning in real-world situations. Bill Camarda, from the September 2007 Read Only

Only Book you'll need for 2007 certification

This is the only Book you'll need for 2007 certification. Passed easily by reading and then reviewing the material in the book and taking practice test.

    A reviewer

Mostly a review of what I know, yet learned a couple of new things. It's a quick read although information tended to be repeated which could've been better organized and grouped.

Better organized than the book I was given for class.

I like how the book is organized in order of test taken. Having the chapter vocab and CompTIA objectives listed in the beginning is also very helpful for studying. I was lead to believe by my instructor that there would be a cram sheet with the book, but I guess there isn't one for this because mine did not have one stuck inside or in the shipping box.

    An excellent resource

I don't know if there's one source that will help one pass the A+ certification, but this certainly was one I'd recommend. It may have been more detailed than some will like, but it helped me grasp some concepts I was having difficulties with and instill them in my memory. It may be my imagination, but I believe I would not have passed the Essentials and IT Technician exams without this book.
