The Third Edition of this best-selling reference has been expanded to two volumes and completely updated. Written by experts from the University of North Carolina, the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the text offers definitive guidance on extracranial CT and MRI. This edition provides state-of-the-art coverage of new clinical applications and technological innovations, including spiral CT, high-resolution CT, and MR fast imaging sequences and contrast agents. Greater emphasis is also placed on CT/MRI correlations. More than 3,700 illustrations, almost all new to this edition, complement the text.Computed Body Tomography with MRI Correlation, Third Edition is also available on CD-ROM. See Media section for details. The two-volume set and CD-ROM can be purchased together at a special low price.

Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Anne M. Kennedy, MB, ChB (University of Utah School of Medicine)
Description: This third edition reviews the application of CT and MRI in imaging outside the central nervous system. The second edition was published in 1987.
Purpose: The editors aim to present a comprehensive text on the application of CT and MRI to the extracranial organs. Since the second edition, technologic improvements have resulted in development of new techniques for imaging and problem solving that have revolutionized non-neuroimaging. This is a timely overview of the new roles of both modalities.
Audience: The book is primarily aimed at radiologists in training and in practice, but acknowledges that many other physicians seek information on the most appropriate method to evaluate specific clinical problems. The editors are well known and respected, as are the contributors.
Features: It is well illustrated and referenced with an adequate index. The decision to divide the text into two volumes was a good one; the second edition was uncomfortably large to carry!
Assessment: I purchased this book as soon as I knew it was available. I read the second edition during my residency, so clearly it was time for an update. Any individual doing CT in daily practice would be well advised to purchase the book. We keep a copy in our reading area for general reference and recommend it to the residents for in-depth study. The new information contained on the applications of CT and MRI to non-neuroimaging is more than sufficient to require a new edition.
