Overview

Ideally suited for CT courses in radiologic technology programs, or for stand-alone CT programs, this text prepares students both for mastery of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) General Radiography and Computed Tomography exams. The text also includes features and resources to ease the transition into actual clinical setting. Organized around the three major ARRT content categories, Romans incorporates student-friendly Clinical Application boxes to add real-world relevance. Highlighted key terms, Key Concept boxes, and chapter review questions, suggested reading, and other features help to ensure mastery of the topic.

Doody Reviews
Reviewer: Laura B Gabrys, BS (Froedtert Hospital)
Description: This book covers all of the key concepts of computed tomography (CT) in great detail with useful illustrations and excellent descriptions.
Purpose: The purpose is to give CT technologists the knowledge they need to provide exceptional patient care by producing quality CT scans. This comprehensive book is also intended to be used in preparation for the ARRT certification exam and as a teaching manual for instructors. The book does an exceptional job of accomplishing these objectives.
Audience: It is appropriate for CT technologists, students, and instructors, but it also could be useful for practitioners to help them better understand CT.
Features: The book covers a range of topics from basic CT knowledge, to dose information, to anatomy and exam protocols. The cross-sectional anatomy is covered well with great pictures and labels that are detailed and easy to study. The book uses everyday examples to explain difficult topics. The procedure chapter is thorough, detailing the protocols that will be useful to inexperienced technologists.
Assessment: This is a book of exceptional quality. It contains a wealth of information on CT presented in an easy to understand manner. It will be very useful to new and experienced technologists alike, and is a great tool to have in the department.
