The volumes contain historical background about computers and explain how the technology works. The author shows the great creative, collaborative, and innovative potential that computers have. While Plotkin is definitely an advocate for innovation, he also points out the challenges that arise as new knowledge emerges. Ultimately, the series is about how technology can enhance human interaction if approached in the right way. The introductions are clear in laying out what is to come in the subsequent chapters, and interesting profiles appear throughout.
