Overview

Conan the Barbarian is a name known throughout Cimmeria, Brythinia, Turan, and all the territories bordering the Vilayet Sea—as well as most countries more familiar to us in the real world. The character has become a multifaceted industry, as famous in our world today as he was in his own world during the Hyborian Age. More than 50 novels and countless short stories featuring Conan have been written by a variety of authors, but the stories contained in this massive volume are all by the character’s creator, Robert E. Howard. Originally written by Howard to be published in the magazine Weird Tales in the 1930s, these include short stories such as "Shadows in the Moonlight" through to longer tales such as "A Witch Shall Be Born." Although many have taken up the challenge to extend Conan’s adventures over the years, Howard was a master of his craft, lovingly creating a mythical world in which his original masterpieces reign supreme.

    seller misleads

The book is good, but was sold as a hardcover book. Book is actually a paperback and its paper cover is a little stiffer than usual. Apparently, Barnes and Noble feels that gives them the right to sell it as a hardcover book. Cover was slightly damaged also.

    Nice Collection

For over 30 yeaars I have been a fan of Robert E. Howard. I have all of the stuff in this volume but it was nice to see all of his Conan stories in one book. I am pleased to have this in my library.

    I Also Recommend:

    OUTSTANDING BOOK - ROBERT E. HOWARD (196-1936)

I like this book a lot because it's easy to carry in a softbound cover. It makes a great gift to new or old REH fans. You can never have to many books on or about him. Most of Robert E. Howard's classic stories are here. Two of my favorites are Beyond The Black River and Red Nails. The price is great as it's in the clearance area and below $14. To me, Robert E. Howard was and still is the most prolific writer and poet of all time! If you get some time visit REH Forum at Conan.com to hear what REH fans are all talking about.

    "Arnold" isn't Conan!!

But, he made a good stab at it. Robert E. Howard's Conan is so much darker and much less civilized than the character created for the movies. Howard's characters are richer, as behooves storylines fully realized in print. This collection shows why young men of a certain age read books on rainy days or under the bedclothes at night. They are "short" stories. They are addictive like salty peanuts. "Can't read just one!" I saw the movies first, a very interesting bio-flick of Howard next (Vincent D"Ornofrio starred), and then, picked up this volume. It's a good read. I had never read any fiction of this genre before. It amazes me that I hadn't discovered it until now.
