All Music Guide - Scott Yanow
Although this double LP has been reissued by the Jazz Alliance label on CD, the LP version is preferable because it contains more performances. Pianists Marian McPartland, Teddy Wilson, Ellis Larkins and Earl Hines all play about 20 minutes apiece during a swing-oriented solo set. McPartland whose performance is highlighted by a Duke Ellington medley, Wilson who plays a couple of Gershwin medley, and Larkins sticking as usual to quiet ballads are all in fine form but it was wise to put Hines on last for he cuts everyone with his chancetaking set.
