Clear diagrams and clean presentation of information. Great for learning muscles, function, origin and insertion. Overall a great reference book.
I am a certified personal trainer and I emphatically recommend this book for all trainers at any level for reference. The color diagrams make the viewing of the origin and attachments of the muscles easy to see. In addition the muscle discussed has a reference to the vertebrae of the spine that enervates it. Finally suggestions are made to strengthen and stretch the muscle studied. This book I highly recommend for anyone that is involved with kinesiology at any level.
I am currently studying to be a Personal Trainer. I needed a good anatomy book. What I didn't need was a medical book. This book fit the bill. Besides showing all the muscles broken down by muscle area, leg & foot, hip & thigh, forearm & hand, etc, each muscle is shown and described seperatly. The book shows the origin and insertion of each muscle. It also shows the action, basic functional movement,and the sport that utilises each muscle. It also shows strengthening exercises and self stretches for each muscle. The color diagrams are also very clear and consise. I would highly recommend this book for anyone needing an easy to use reference book on anatomy.
I am currently transitioning careers from a visual discipline into one of health, wellness, and fitness. My Pilates instructor brought this to class one day, along with a few others, and I immediately fell in love with it. I use it daily as it is a quick, easy, comprehensive reference, yet it is laid out beautifully with appropriate accompanying diagrams.
This is a great book on muscle and skeletal anatomy. My college education was in Kinesiology but I recently found I needed some refreshing. I located this book during a physical search at B&N and have been extremely pleased with several features. It is organized by area of the body so the muscles that share or support the same functions are in the same color coded section. The graphics are accurate and very clear. The book not only explains in simple terms such as "lifts the leg in stepping forward" or "used in jumping" but it also provides both strengthening exercises and stretches for the muscles. The book also contains a section explaining the terms used in describing muscle placement and movement with respect to body position. I am seeing a Doctor of Osteopathy for difficulty in walking and have used the book as a basis for discussion with my doctor about my problems and restorative activities. She was very favorably impressed with the contents and plans to recommend it to other patients. This book was a real find and even though very affordable for a workbook or textbook, it is produced on high quality, durable paper. I have already recommended it to several people.
