This book is a masterpiece. Well written and beautifully illustrated, it tells the story of Coney Island from the 1600s to the present. The author, who grew up in Coney Island, has an obvious passion for the place, but that seems to enhance rather than detract from his objectivity about it - he has studied its history and interviewed many people to learn as much as he could about the various forces that shaped Coney Island. Every aspect of this book - for example, the carefully written picture captions, the high-quality printing - shows great attention to detail - it's a class act. If you're interested in Coney Island, you'll want this book.
