Coney Island of the Mind

( 3 )

Overview

The title of this book is taken from Henry Miller's Into the Night Life and expresses the way Lawrence Ferlinghetti felt about these poems when he wrote them during a short period in the 1950's-as if they were, taken together, a kind of Coney Island of the mind, a kind of circus of the soul. Ferlinghetti's A Coney Island of the Mind has become a modern classic. It has been translated into nine languages and there are now three-quarters of a million copies in print.

    WOW

I feel like everytime I see this book, I am inclined to buy it. I have several Copies, including one from the 50's. This is my favorite book of all time and I reccomend it to anyone. My two goals in life are to meet Lawerence Ferlinghetti and to save a life. I hope that they both come true.

    A Living Legend!

I saw Lawrence Ferlinghetti speak at the Pirate's Alley Society Words and Music 2000 in New Orleans. His poetry rings true and his energy was amazing. He discovered a poet 'Joe Plum' and drew large crowds to the event.I nominate him for sainthood.
