Oates tells the story of the not-so-famous Confederate Cavalry units that served west of the Mississippi River. He does a great job of tracing the history of these units from their birth until the war's end. A must read for serious students of the Civil War. The units of the Trans-Mississippi have not gotten the literary coverage that the more well known units in Virginia have received. Oates gives great insight into this area of the war.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
