Overview

The Christian life begins and ends with faith. Bob Wilkin disagreed with that statement for many years. As a member of a works-oriented religious cult, Bob spent most of his boyhood years working for the perfection that he thought was needed to please God and somehow gain eternal life. It was not until college that he discovered the grace of God through a campus ministry and was overwhelmed by the simple truth of God's promise, "He who believes in Me has everlasting life." He understood for the first time that no one can become a Christian or please God in daily life except by faith. Bob accepted the gift of salvation by placing his faith in Jesus Christ, and experienced a jailbreak from the bondage of works-religion. He knew he must devote his life to telling others about the wonderful grace of God. This book is a part of that devotion. It is Bob's desire that reading Confident in Christ: Living by Faith Really Works will kindle the passion, love, and gratitude in you that comes from being deeply touched by the wonderful grace of God.

About the Author:

Bob was born at an early age in Los Angeles in 1952. His early religious influences included Serbian Orthodoxy, Methodism, and a religious boy's club that was essentially a cult. God impressed His grace upon Bob in the summer before his senior year in college. Bob was amazed to learn that one gained eternal life by faith alone; that works play no role whatsoever in gaining or maintaining one's salvation. This conviction changed his life-literally. He changed his life's course from medicine to ministry. After four years in college evangelistic ministry with Campus Crusade (at Arkansas State Univ. and N. C. State Univ.), he went on to Dallas Seminary where he earned Th.M. and Ph.D. degrees in New Testament studies. Bob has served as a hospital chaplain, pastor, and Bible College professor. Since 1987 he has been the Founder and Executive Director of Grace Evangelical Society, a ministry designed to promote the clear proclamation of eternal life, which is free, and eternal rewards, which are costly. Bob and his wife Sharon live in a Dallas suburb. Bob's hobbies include racewalking, master's track, Scrabble, reading, books on tape, and standing tall (he is five feet eighteen inches in height, making him one of the tallest racewalking theologians on earth).
