Conflict of Honors
A CLASSIC OF THE LIADEN UNIVERSE®!

When Priscilla Delacroix y Mendoza was sixteen years old, she was declared dead by the High Priestess of the Goddess and by her mother. Banished to survive on her own, Priscilla has roamed the galaxy for ten years as an outcast—to become a woman of extraordinary skill. . . .

Now an experienced officer assigned to the Liaden vessel Daxflan, she’s been abandoned yet again. Betrayed by her captain and shipmates, she’s left to fend for herself on a distant planet. But Priscilla is not alone. Starship captain Shan yos’Galan is about to join Priscilla’s crusade for revenge. He has his own score to settle with Daxflan. But confronting the sinister crew will be far easier—and safer—than confronting the demons of Priscilla’s own mysterious past.

About the Author

About The Author
Maine-based writers Sharon Lee and Steve Miller teamed up in the late 1980s to bring the world the story of Kinzel, an inept wizard with a love of cats, a thirst for justice, and a staff of true power.

In the decades since, until Steve's death in 2024, the Lee-and-Miller writing team published over 100 works of fantastic fiction, the majority set in their genre-bending Liaden Universe®, demonstrating their shared philosophy that fiction ought to be fun—both the reading and the writing of it.

During their long and storied career, Steve and Sharon were celebrated as guests of honor at more than two dozen science fiction conventions across the country and were also frequent panelist and featured speakers.

Their awards include the Prizm for Best Futuristic Romance, The Golden Duck for Best YA SF, the Reader’s Choice Award for the Year’s Best Military and Adventure SF of 2017, and the Edward E. Smith Memoria Award for Imaginative Fiction (the Skylark).

Sharon is continuing to work in the universe she and Steve built together.

What People are Saying About This

Lisa DuMond

...a credible universe, intriguing characters, and the ride of your life.... (Lisa DuMond, SF Site)

Jennifer Dunne

Anyone I met who had ever read [the Liaden] books rhapsodized over them. Having finally had the chance to read the books myself, I understand. It isn't so much the plot or the style that elevates these works to such a level of adoration, as it is a unique sense that a window has opened onto another universe to let the reader watch events transpire for the length of the book, at which point the window closes, leaving the reader begging for another glance through the now darkened glass. These are not characters. They are real people, whose lives we have been privileged to share. (Jennifer Dunne, SFRomance)
