Conformed to His Image: Biblical and Practical Approaches to Spiritual Formationby Kenneth D. Boa
Pub. Date: 08/28/2001
What does a relationship with God look like and how do we obtain it? It is vital for church leaders to grapple seriously with this question, for pat answers no longer suffice. Lives well-lived, not just words eloquently spoken, must become our response. The quality of our relationship with God is what will influence the health, potency, and witness of the church in an increasingly complex and hostile world.
Designed for use as a college or seminary course, Conformed to His Image helps us build our lives on a fully biblical perspective. Exploring twelve approaches to Christian spirituality in depth, Dr. Kenneth Boa corrects our tendency to pick and compartmentalize. Pointing the way instead to an integrative, whole-life approach, Dr. Boa shows how each spiritual paradigm discussed is just one important facet in the gem of authentic and powerful New Testament living.
With chapter overviews and objectives, questions for personal application, a glossary, and a list of key terms, Conformed to His Image will prove a defining text for the student, pastor, and church leader of today . . . and tomorrow.

When this book came in the mail, I looked through it and very quickly put it away. It looked daunting; it looked like a seminary textbook. I had so many other books to read by my bed (I'm a librarian!), I knew I couldn't give that one the attention it deserved. I put it away for 6 months--really it just got put on the bottom of the pile. Months later I found it and decided it would be a good discipline to study during Lent. Amazing! From the first chapter, I was inspired. Use it with a notebook and your Bible close at hand. Answer the questions at the end of the chapter. Take notes. This is what the spiritual journey toward Christ is all about. When I finish it, (I'm about half-way through) I plan to start again.
I can't print it or save it. This service is awful.
This book is one of the most fundamental and insightful that I have read. The foundation contained in it is a must for reflection and digestion, serving as reminders for Christians.
I read this book for a class and it changed my life. It's an excellent study tool. It's so good I've recommended it to several people and already bought two more copies for friends. It is broken down into short chapters which makes it good for reading in pieces and jumping around. It's a harder read, but great for new Christians who are looking to get more serious in their faith.
