I read CONNECTED a few weeks ago and I instantly fell in love with it because it was different. It wasn't anything I'd read recently or even ever. Kim takes you on a roller coaster ride that doesn't want to let you off. At first when it starts, you think, 'oh I've read this'. but then it goes into uncharted territories that you'll be clamoring for the end to see where it's all leading up!
The story starts with Dahlia dating Ben Covington while they're at Stanford. It's Halloween and Dahlia is not one to celebrate the holiday (I'm with her!). Her reason is more doable than mine. I hate it, she lost her parents and a beloved aunt in a horrific plane crash on that day. So yeah, she's not dressing up. However, she does promise a friend that she'll head to the local bar to listen to an up-and-coming band.
So leaving her inebriated boyfriend behind, she heads to the local bar and there she meets an enigmatic stranger who practically begs her to stay. When she finds out that he's the lead singer of the band performing and she knows that she's about to make a big mistake, she bails.
We flash forward a few years later. Ben and Dahlia are living together and engaged. She's a photographer and he's a hard-hitting journalist who is about to win a prestigious award for a story that he's been working of for a few years. En route to the banquet, the car holding Ben and Dahlia is carjacked and Ben is killed. Leaving Dahlia broken and brokenhearted.
Two years go by before she's able to go back to work and even function. When her best friend Aerie, offers her a job in Vegas to interview a rock star and grab some photos. Her surprise is complete when she's told its River Wilde that she'll be meeting in Vegas. See this is the same person she met oh so long ago and never acted on it.
Kim tells a tightly knit story that will break your heart, have you cheering and pretty much leaving your panties in a bunch. She sucker punches you just when you think Dahlia and River will finally live their happily ever after. I fell in love with River. He's a guy who pulls no punches, he knows what he wants and he goes after it. Dahlia is broken. Afraid to open her heart because whenever she does the person she has opened it to leaves.
With the influx of new adult/contemporary romance/self-published authors, this book is highly recommended. I could read it over and over again because it's just that good.

Sexy and gorgeous River Wilde meets beautiful and loving Dahlia London. Sparks fly, souls connect...
but there are many obstacles they need to get past before they can truly be happy.
I loved their story. The instant connection... love. that. River's made his way onto my book boyfriend list.
He's so loving. The emotions within their story are all over the place and I truly felt what they were feeling
as they were feeling it. I can't wait to see what's in store for them next.

This is the first book I have read by Kim Karr and certainly won't be the last. I thought this was a great start The Connections Series. I am glad that I knew it was the beginning of the story, so I was not dissapointed when it ended on a cliff!!!
I look forward to spending time in the lives of the characters that the author has created! I definitely recommend this book and author to you. ENJOY!!!

Dahlia London is with the guy she's loved all her life, when she meets the love of her life in a brief encounter while in college - River Wilde - the connection between them was unlike anything either had experienced before, but that is all that it was meant to be at that time in their life. Now several years later and trying to recover from a tragedy that almost completely destroyed her, as fate with a little help from her best friend would have it, Dahlia reconnects with River and these two discover what true love is really about. When it finally seems like things are coming together for Dahlia and River, the past rises up and threatens to destroy it all, forcing them to figure out how strong their connection really is.
I really loved both Dahlia and River. Dahlia had been through so much and my heart just broke for her. River Wilde is a rock star, hot as hot can get, and I just loved everything about him. He couldn't be more perfect, and he loved Dahlia with everything in him. I loved their romance, the chemistry between them, and the romance was hot. There are also several secondary characters I enjoyed getting to know, some of which play big roles in the subsequent installments of the series.
I enjoyed Kim Karr's writing style and the way she brought the characters and their story to life. My only quirk was that sometimes things seemed a little repetitious with the dialogue that took place between the characters. Other than that, I enjoyed the entire book for the most part. Kim Karr even managed to throw a twist in at the end that I didn't see coming until we were almost there, which I loved. If you are a fan of contemporary romance, then Connected is something you definitely might want to check out. This is an adult novel with some explicit scenes that are not appropriate for readers under 18 years of age.

As much as they make me crazy, I do love me some cliffhangers and plot twists. And boy did Kim Karr deliver those! They're exactly the reason why Connected is such an emotional roller coaster of a read.
There's a lot of romance but a good amount of mystery and suspense as well. Which came as a surprise, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Never did I get bored or turned off by an anticlimactic moment. If I wasn't swooning over River Wilde and his relationship with Dahlia, I was intrigued by her past life with her ex. There was always something interesting happening.
When I can figure out the plot line or big mystery early on in a book, I don't necessarily hate it, but I do get a little bummed out. Though I was able to put two and two together, that didn't seem to deter my fascination with the story and characters.
Kim Karr is a fabulous writer and she does a swell job of drawing the reader in with the simplest words and moments. This book will make you believe in love at first sight.
The characters were well developed and the story just took my breath away.
I would definitely recommend this to all romance readers; especially ones looking for something a little outside the box. You will devour every single word of this spectacular book.

Ben and Dahlia have loved each other since childhood. Now they are engaged to be married and have a beautiful home together. Then everything shatters for Dahlia when Ben is killed in a random car accident. It takes almost a year for Dahlia to feel like she can even function. On a work related trip to Las Vegas, Dahlia runs into River Wilde. Instantly all the feelings that she had for him one night in college came back. Only now she just might be able to act on them. She isn't to sure if he even remembers her much less carried those same feelings. When she realizes how he feels and that he never forgot her, their relationship begins where it could have years ago. The realization that they were meant for each other is so powerful that nothing could break their bond, until the unthinkable happens and Dahlia is left questioning everything that she thought she knew. Was this review helpful? 4 stars - No doubt I was connected to these characters
While I loved the cover when I first saw it, the blurb made me nervous. It sounds so emotional and I have to be in the right frame of mind to read those kinds of books. But when the second and third book covers come out, I decided to give this one a try. The thing is, I never should have worried about the emotional thing. It was emotional for Dahlia but while I cared about her, it wasn't taring me apart.
My heart breaks for Dahlia. She's had so many loses in her life. She's trying to heal but it's so hard. Her grief takes a long time for her to get a handle on but when she decides to move on she's bold about it. She was self-aware about the process and what was good for her. I admired that.
I love River. The connection that they share when he first meets Dahlia is profound. While I don't believe in love at first sight, I do believe that your soul can react to another and form an intense connection just like it did for these two.
I so loved River's flirty, male ways. There are so many quotes highlighted on my iPad where he's touching her or whispering in her ear. The heat of their connection really comes through the pages to intensify the experience.
Those little clues that authors drop along the way that make readers nervous, this one had those. I kept collecting them and thinking about them. I like that. It's more than a story of grief. It's more than a story of connection. It's a puzzle of emotions that I enjoyed putting together.
This is what kept this book from being 5 stars for me. I loved the story but there were just a few places where I took pause and was like, what? Things like calling for room service right before they were headed out to dinner, or certain lines that repeated a lot. Just little things that bugged me. Not enough to keep me from enjoying the book but enough to stop me as I read.
Could I Put It Down...
The thing is that I marked it as currently reading before I actually started it. I thought I was going to start it but life happened and I put it off. When I finally did pick it up, I went through it quickly in about two sittings. The story had my attention and I didn't want to put it down. I had all those clues I was collecting and puzzling together that I needed to work on.
In The End...
This book is different. It's more than romance. It's got a healing aspect to it. It's got a comfortable connection aspect to it. Anyone who enjoys those kinds of things should not worry about picking this one and just get to it.

Dahlia thought her life was as complete as it was going to get. She had gotten through some hard times in her past, but she had her best friend and lover and they were moving towards their future together. Not even a chance meeting with a man she felt an immediate connection to stopped her. She loved Ben and her life was at his side. Until a fateful night where everything went wrong and she lost the one person who had kept her together through her darkest hour.
Going through the motions but not truly living for a period of two years, Dahlia slowly but surely found the strength to take the first step into a new life without her Ben. And although she knew that the steps would lead her to the man she never forgot, she was not expecting her world to turn on its axis at that moment.
I have to admit that I was a little hesitant about the story because I've read so many books with a similar concept. However, Kim Karr did an amazing job on this one.
Heartbreak. Desolation. Sorrow.
Lust. Trust. Elation. Uncertainty.
This story had it all and I enjoyed it immensely.
I loved the way the author went about telling River and Dahlia's story. After experiencing some of Ben and Dahlia's relationship and seeing how deeply connected they were, I wasn't sure how Kim Karr would pull it off. Especially since I find the connection between two characters in a romance to be essential.
I didn't need to worry because with every moment that passed between them, I felt River and Dahlia's connection grow and deepen. Every event, every touch, look or interaction the author brought to the page was put into place to bring the utmost impact in the reader. From their initial meeting to their second chance encounter all through their confessions and ultimate acceptance of the love they shared. Every little thing flowed seamlessly and I couldn't ask for anything more.
I enjoyed watching them getting to know each other. With flirtatious banter, honest dialogue and lustful encounters River and Dahlia connection shined through. I'm glad that she brought along the doubts, hesitations and even some guilt into the mix. It made their struggle, especially Dahlia's, more real to me.
Needless to say that they chemistry was HOT! Man that first night they met the sexual tension could cut glass - it was that good! But as much as I liked that, I mostly enjoyed their easy camaraderie and the emotions they portrayed whenever they were in a room together. Once emotions other than lust came into play, their chemistry skyrocketed and I was sold.
I was cheering them on. There were times I wanted to throttle them, comfort them and just tell them to get a room. I loved watching them grow as individuals, especially Dahlia. I don't think I would have been as convinced about their relationship if it wasn't for the fact that they came into themselves and accepted who they were, past and all.
There other elements into the story too but those you would have to experience for yourself so you can truly grasp the entirety of what this story entailed. As the first installment into River and Dahlia's story, Connected was a fantastic read, I could only imagine what's in store for them after this.

Everyone warned me that this is an emotional book, but no warning can really prepare you for this book. It is the kind of book that makes your heart hurt. Every time you think you know where the story is going you end up completely blindsided by what actually happens. There were a couple of times when I thought I had the story line pegged but then it turned out I was wrong (although there is one thing I still think I’m right about that will come into play in Torn).
I think the best thing about the story is the characters. Both of them are so well developed and they feel so real. It is so easy to connect to them and get invested in them. I adore Dahlia (I also love her name). My heart broke for this girl and all the tragedy that has touched her life. It is a testament to her strength that she is able to be the bright and vibrant girl even after all of the darkness she has dealt with.
Then we have River and I fell so hard for River. His name is oh so sexy and he lives up to that sexy name. He is adorable and charming and talented and just oh so swoony. He is just a wonderful guy and he wants to help Dahlia any way he can. He clearly adores her and is willing to do anything for her. That kind of devotion is hard not to fall for. It’s clear he is keeping a secret, and I think I know what it is, and I am not happy he is keeping it. However, if I’m right in my guess I completely understand why he feels the need to keep it.
The chemistry between River and Dahlia just oozes off the pages. It is so steamy and swoony and just oh my gosh wonderful. Now I will say this, their relationship is very insta love and I just wanted to mention this because I know some people hate this. I’m not one of them; as long as you can make me believe it I am perfectly okay with it and this one definitely made me believe it. I could see the immediate connection and more importantly I could feel it.
The story moves along at a pretty good pace. I was going along, enjoying the ride, happy in my little world watching River and Dahlia fall more and more in love… and then I read the epilogue. How can the book just end there?!?!?! I wanted to smash something. I actually threw a temper tantrum. Such a mean mean cliffhanger and I know there is heartache to come in the next book and I don’t know how my heart is going to handle it.
Connected is an emotional read and one that will make you smile and then smash your heart into bits. It is a great read and one that leaves you dying to pick up the sequel.

Firstly I want to thank Kim for setting up this shin dig and providing me with ARC copies of both Connected & Torn for this fan-fricking-tastic paperback release :)
I must admit Connected & Torn have been on my TBR since they came out and I am over the moon to of FINALLY getting to read them :)
I'm gutted that I waited so fricking long to read this...I mean this was some effing serious s**t in this book. The beginning with Ben & Dahlia I was like..."will they, won't they" then when all the s**t that went down I fell into bits for poor Dahlia...having to deal with something as tragic as she did.....she seizes to amaze me.
The beauty, the strength that Dahlia has, is a real inspiration, a figure of someone you would look up to and want to be more like....well certainly for me anyway :)
Ohhh have you met River Wilde....WHAT NO! ARE YOU FRICKING SERIOUS RIGHT NOW!
You are seriously missing on some man candy. River is sweet, funny, sexy as all hell and to put the cherry on the cake he fricking sings and plays guitar...totally crushing right now!!
In Connected we see both River and Dahlia deal with their turbulent emotions for one another and the hurdles that seem to be launched at them from left, right and centre.
This will be my third book where the ending/epilogue is somewhat similar and I HATE YOU RIGHT NOW!
Not in a bad way, lol, everything was FINALLY looking great for Dahlia and River, then you shove that rod up our a***s! Seriously.....
Will Dahlia and River stay CONNECTED or will their past make them become TORN?
You'll have to read TORN, to find out...What....Happens....Next :D
I know I am :)

The story had me conflicted at first and then toward the end it had me wanting more. The closer I got to the end the more my answers were answered but yet not enough that I thought it was over. Cliff-hangers suck but when when you are left with a jaw dropping moment you know the story has to go on. Great book in this series. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. ** I received an eCopy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review **
Thinking about reading Torn? Make sure you have plenty of tissues and a good couple of free hours blocked out in your day planner because once you pick it up you will not want to put it down until you've finished the last page.
Connected is a heartfelt, angst filled, truly awesome novel-
I felt so many emotions while reading this book. I laughed, I cried, I threatened my kindle and anyone who dared to interrupt me while I was reading it.
The characters are oh-so-well written!-
River and Dahlia will grab you from the very beginning and not let you go. River Wilde...*swoon*. Does it get any better than River? I think not! And Dahlia is the kind of character that every girl imagines having for a BFF. Together, they make one of the best literary couples I have read about in a long time. Add to that angry brothers and mysterious friends and you've got yourself a 5-star cast.
This book is masterfully written-
Kim Karr has a great writing style. Connected is so descriptive (without being overly descriptive) that the reader feels as if they are right there with the characters. And trust me, you will WANT to be there! It will keep you on the edge of your seat and page turning from all of the twists and turns and super hot, yet undeniably romantic, love scenes.
This is my first experience with a Kim Karr novel but far from my last. I will definitely be reading Torn VERY soon!
