Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Greg M. Romaneck
During the pre-colonial era Connecticut was the homeland of Native peoples who thrived there for centuries. With the arrival of European colonists, the fate of the Native peoples shifted and ultimately waned. After suppressing the Native peoples, colonists set about to establish a way of life that guaranteed prosperity. Over time, the English colonists drifted away from their King and discord arose. Out of this discord came the American Revolution, the eventual defeat of British arms, and the establishment of Connecticut as part of the newly created United States of America. In this volume of "The Thirteen Colonies" series, Cunningham tells the story of approximately 150 years of history in a condensed manner. As in other books in this series, Cunningham's approach works. A particular strength of the author's work is his focus on the everyday life of colonials. In this way readers are presented not only with the keynote facts and figures, but also the way people actually lived. Reviewer: Greg M. Romaneck
