Rossi has outdone himself again. Connections is a beautiful record. I'm not surprised having enjoyed Tom's music for a few years. It's Rossi's warm, soothing voice that carries the record, as he continues to evolve his unique sound, blending Western and non-Western instruments and styles with grace, reverence and majesty.
Connections is a great follow up to Tom Rossi's first album, Salma Har. The global textures are always rich and masterfully crafted with superb musicianship. On this record Rossi really takes it to the next level with some very powerful tunes like Unseen, Evening Theme and Sunside. Raza and Kanjira Ba are really great up beat tracks.
I love all of Rossi's work. This album is amazing. A nice follow up to Salma Har. I use his music a lot for my yoga classes because he is a master of the sound of bliss. Evening Theme and Raza are my favorites because they show Rossi's diversity. There is no weak link here. All of these tracks are gorgeous!
This record is refreshing and sophisticated compared to a lot of other Gaiam stuff. Tom Rossi has deftly avoided the typical pitfalls of this genre with great ideas, acoustic/worldly instruments and genuine emotion.
I bought this CD to help meditate and relax, it tends to put me to sleep- it is very relaxing.
