Meet the Author
The onset of my arthritis was sudden and left me in chronic, overwhelming pain that often made it difficult to walk even a few steps without passing out. Sometimes it was so bad that I was incapable of rational thought, or any thought at all. Sometimes my hands hurt so much I couldn’t even hold silverware well enough to feed myself.
After four and a half years of conventional treatments that did little or nothing to improve my condition, I decided that if I continued to follow the conventions dictated by the current medical model, I was unlikely to get well.
Eventually I was able to completely overcome my arthritic condition using the nine secrets mentioned in the title of this book. Each method provided a lasting and dramatic improvement in my condition.
After years of having difficulty just walking from one room to another, I now walk many miles a week without difficulty and go on 20 to 30 mile bike rides for fun. I have regained full use of my hands and my hips. The pain and fatigue are gone.
This is the book I wish had been available when I developed arthritis. It would have saved me years of pain and incapacitation. I am delighted that is has proven a highly useful guide for others finding their own way back to health.

Great research done. Makes sense to try methods and you do begin to feel better. Thank you Barbara for sharing your findings!
This is an excellent book for those newly diagnosed. It will give you hope and knowledge. This was one of the first books I read. I reduced my SED rate from 43 to 16 by altering my diet, and following her ideas. My doctor said "this just doesn't happen"! I think this book in addition to the Dr. Mcdougal's books are a great way to change your lifestyle and diet. No more processed foods or wheat for me...actually spelt is a wonderful hypoallergenic flour that does work for me. Read the book and start feeling better without drugs.
This is a must-read, especially if you have had arthritis for a long time and are weakened by the pain and the side effects of the allopatic medication to supress the pain. The message of this book is right on target. There is definitely a link between inflammation and food/environmental intolerances. Read this book, get your act together, take your tests, and start living the live that you were supposed to have. Healthy and painfree!
This was an eye opening book for me! I have battled with JRA since I was 10 years old and thought there was no hope until I read this book! It has changed my life. And Barbara Allan is a very caring and helpful person too! This is a MUST READ!
Well researched material. The author's recommendation about the food intolerance blood test was key to my becoming relatively pain-free for the first time in 37 years of trying to find the cause of my arthritis, diagnosed at 19. Although dubious at first, I decided to take the plunge and must admit the results are gratifying (although sobering to find out I am sensitive to 89 out of 200 foods tested, many of them my staple diet.) Had I found this information out when in my 20's I might not have had to resort to double knee replacement surgery at 54. I expect to be able to avoid or at least postpone hip replacement by following the suggestions Ms. Allan outlines in her book, particularly the elimination and rotation diets. Had feared that my progressively worsening arthritis was going to end my career as a river guide, but am once again able to keep up with kids less than half my age. I am eternally grateful to Ms. Allan for sharing this information.
