This book contains translation of the "Chronicle of Ernoul", a narrative in Old French. In its original form it was written in the Latin East. It recounts the story of the internal divisions in the kingdom of Jerusalem, Saladin's victories over the Christians in 1187, and the attempts by the western crusaders, the most famous of whom was King Richard the Lionheart, to win back what had been lost In the course of the expedition we know as the Third Crusade (1188-92). The book also contains translations of shorter texts that throw light on the Third Crusade.
