Overview

Instead of a ring, Annree gets a hollow excuse and a wave good-bye. Suddenly single, she can’t pay the bills, can’t afford cigarettes, and can't possibly have a substance abuse problem...right?

When her parents put her on the next flight to Hong Kong for her best friend’s wedding, Annree is thankful for a break from the negativity. Even if it means pretending to be happy when she’s not.

At an impromptu bachelorette party, Annree meets an unavailable man who tests her heart and courage in ways she never thought possible. After a friend’s frightening overdose and a barroom brawl that lands the party in jail, Annree realizes that in order to be happy she has to create her own way. And it’s not going to be easy.

The chance to set her life right, and save her best friend’s wedding, brings Annree closer to healing and away from a Constant State of Disaster.

She also writes young adult under the pen name Nolia McCarty. Heather lives in north-central Kentucky with a house full of animals and the love of her life—all of whom drive her crazy. That's what Anne Marie is--out of control. This drama with a good dose of romance weaved in is a well-written novel that keeps the reader rooting for Anne Marie to get things under control in her life. As are all of Ms. Adkins stories, CONSTANT STATE OF DISASTER is entertaining with creative prose and the characters' dialogue is sharp, real and witty. No doubt the protagonist has some serious issues stemming from a break up with her live-in boyfriend, yet you want her to succeed because you care. It's not until the very end that you find out whether she actually does find her place in her life. No, I won't spoil it for you. I can tell you this, though--once you start reading you won't stop until the story's final resolution is revealed. Highly recommended for those fans of chick lit and drama.

WTG Heather....You did it again I could totally relate to Ann Marie.  In my younger days I had a friend just like her.  Even though at first I could see she was totally going down the wrong path but I couldnt help but root for her.  It felt so real and raw sometimes.  I have been in a similar situation myself where I felt I had to watch out for her.  Without giving anything away I loved the storyline and the title was a perfect fit.

I easily got sucked int AnnRees train wreck. She's a likable character even though she was quickly going down the path of destruction. Adkins does a great job of making you feel for the AnnRee and hope to see her turn herself around. I don't usually read chick lit, but I've read everything by Adkins and loved it all this was no exception.
