    Every Home Needs One

    I actually bought a copy while attending a police academy. We had a sitting judge who taught a few of the criminal law classes and he required all of us to have a copy on us at all times. I know that I studied it in high school, but having to read and reread it like that made me appreciate the incredible power the words have and their affect not just on my life, but on the world today.

    Buy this book - Then send to your representatives

    We seem to only read about the latest Supreme Court ruling, without reflection on the original set of laws by which we are governed. Buy a copy and re-read our founding documents, then send a copy to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

    No home should be without it.

    In every home in the United States, there should be a copy of our Constitution. If you don't know the laws of the land...how can you protect it from those who wish to destroy it.

    A Great Way To Run A Government

    The Constitution hasn't had a very good run lately, but it still serves as the model for republican (small r!) government with protection of individual rights. I highly recommend the Constitution to the current occupant of the White House.

    Information everyone should know

    Every American should know what is in this book but it is hard to get the true meaning without some insight into what the founding fathers were thinking when it was written. I suggest reading The Federalist Papers which gives some more insight. Buy a copy and send it to the current Administration. They seem to have forgotten how important it really is.

    Have we forgotten our history?

    This is an excellent pocketsize version of our constitution. I bought it for a reference tool for a project I am working on. It is convienient in size it is a great book every American household should retain otherwise we will continuously neglect our american history

    What else do you need?

    When I picked this up, I couldn't believe that the foundation of a great nation would be so simple and small. The founders created a document of power from the simplest and easy to understand language, and in 200 years, we have somehow corrupted the language so badly it is but a shadow of its former self. Every American (especially every politician) should not only read this, but commit it to memory. If we forget our past, we are doomed to repeat it.

    Mandatory Reading for any U.S. Citizen or Friend of Liberty and Freedom

    Maybe the shortest but most important document of the American Republic. Empower yourself, your children, and your community and arm yourself with the Constitution. For military members, a must read too. Understand what you are sworn to defend.

    Must Have

    What 14th Amendment?

    High schoolers today know very little about the heritage of our country indeed! Apparently, there are high school graduates who believe that the administration of a civics test to determine eligibility to vote would be constitutionally acceptable. Why not poll taxes and 'literacy' tests while we're at it? Hopefully by making this document so readily available, Barnes and Noble has ensured that nobody will ever have to rely on such misleading information regarding our fine country and it's foundations as has been stated in some previous reviews of this work.

    Every Home Should Have

    This book should be in everyones' home, just as the bible or other religious books are present. I am an attorney and until recently tought college for 8+ years, and I would say that 80-90% of my students had NEVER read or been exposed to the words of this book. If we in the United States of America want to keep our rights, we MUST understand them. To not understand our rights, it to give them up. I hope this prompts others to read this book, and even research the meanings to the words of this world-wide unique publication.

    This book should be in every classroom, especially middle schools

    R. B. Bernstein's introduction explains how the Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Articles of the Confederation came about - - not easily and not without controversy and over a period of time. Unfortunately a lot of history is glossed over and completely ignored in today's classrooms.

    "The Constitution of the United States and the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation" is a must for each and every classroom in America.

    Use this as a textbook in high school!

    High schoolers today know very little about the heritage of our country and the deep religious faith of our founding fathers that is reflected in our country's foundational documents. We have a dumbed down society that goes to the polls to vote! Maybe we should give a basic civics test before we allow anyone to vote. A good place to begin is reading the Constitution of the United States. One might be alarmed to find out that there is no expression like 'separation from church and state' and 'a woman's right of privacy (i.e., abortion rights)' and how the government is there to provide for all of our needs. One political party today does not understand that by and large. They are more interested in government hand-outs to make people dependent upon Big Brother rather than teach self-reliance, a community spirit and a faith in God, which were hallmarks of those who had a hand in our nation's founding documents. I wish a past occupant of the White House would have read this book. If he had done that, he would have done the noble thing and resign like Nixon did, instead of dragging our country through the gutter.
