## Meh...not my favorite. This trope has really gotten old. Man that can't commit, that only wants sex because love destroys a person. Woman that suggests a last fling to "get each other out of their systems". Woman then inevitably changes the rules and wants more even though they specifically had an end date in mind. Man freaks out and the heroine comes off like a needy idiot. Prettt ballsy of him to ask her to get him ready for a singles auction that he was determined to win. Why would a woman even agree to this? I recommend skipping this one and reading Becker's story instead.

I loved every second of reading this book! Every Hidden Oaks couple has their own great story and Cara and Travis are no exception. I enjoyed the history between them that was always smouldering just beneath the surface of their subconscience. And speaking of smouldering... No one writes better sex scenes than Ms.Blakely. No one! They are tasteful yet so smokin' hot!

4.5/5 stars I remember reading the previous book in this series, Melt for Him, and I was hoping we would get Travis's story and now here it is! Yay! This made me really happy because I couldn't wait to see Mr. 'I Don't Believe in Relationships Because They Only End in Heartache' fall in love. I really enjoyed Cara and Travis's story. These two have seriously hot chemistry and they have history as well, having dated in high school and having had a few hook ups since then. Naturally, you're rooting for them to get together for real and have it stick. Travis is like a lot of male leads we've read before, in the sense that he doesn't do relationships and can't offer anything more because he thinks he doesn't have more to give. Losing his father in the line of duty was a serious blow, as he saw just how much it impacted his mother and how deeply she retreated into her shell, leaving him to be the one to take care of himself and his younger sister. He saw how much his mother loved his father and how his death destroyed her and he doesn't want to ever put another woman in that position. So, while he is attracted to Cara, he knows what they have can only be physical, despite those niggling feelings that keep popping up the more he spends time with her. I liked Cara. She wasn't a woman who played around. She knows what she wants for her life and she isn't going to let anything sway her from that plan. Not even a sexy as sin firefighter who she knows can ignite her like no one else can. Cara is a forever kind of girl. She isn't into one night stands and hook ups, so it's really out of character for her to propose they act on their attraction in order to get the other out of their systems. Too bad it doesn't quite work out that way. Spending time together naturally reinforces why they are so attracted to one another in the first place. It's so much more than physical and I really liked seeing those tender, sweet moments together. Not to mention, I love how she's helping him train his dog. It just adds this cuteness factor that made the dog-lover in me swoon! We get to see Megan and Becker, as well as Smith and Jamie from the previous books, which I enjoyed because I love to check in with my couples and see how they are doing. I really enjoy Lauren Blakely's books and this was no exception. The romance is sweet, the sexy times are off the charts hot, and the conflict is there, but not overdone to the point where you feel frustrated with the characters.

Cara and Travis have had an on-again/off-again relationship since high school. When Travis went away to college, they both agreed to end their relationship and have gotten together a few times since then. Travis is adamant that he doesn't do relationships or love, so Cara knows he is not husband material. When Cara moves back to town, she discovers that she still wants Travis and wants to have a short relationship with him. Despite their protests to the contrary, both of them find themselves developing strong feelings. Cara professes what she wants to Travis and he shuts her down. With help from his family and friends, Travis discovers that love doesn't have to hurt and can actually bring more to his life than he ever thought. The moment when Travis decides to go all in was nicely done and kept well with the story line. It was a short, easy read and I have enjoyed this whole series so far.

Consumed by You (Fighting Fire #3) by Lauren Blakely *Part of a series but can be read as standalone* Cara Bailey has wanted Travis to be “the one” since they dated in high school. But they never could seem to make anything stick. Over the years as they would see each other through college and visits back to her hometown, they would have a few hot one night stands but then go their separate ways. Cara could never get him out of her head or her heart. Travis was crystal clear he didn’t do relationships, but he was always up for some hot sex with a beautiful girl and Cara was the one he kept going back to. He wants her, but he stays away when she comes back to town to live for good he knows she deserves better than what he can offer. Then Cara changes the rules and decides she wants to have Travis fulfill all of her sexual fantasies in an attempt to get him out of her system. Travis is game, maybe he can get her out of his system too. But when the fire of their desire for each other continues to burn hot will either of them be able to walk away and not get burned. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This was a book that was an absolute pleasure to read from the first line-- “The dress she wore was pure torture. " I recently read that a good book should capture the reader’s attention from the first line and this book definitely did just that. The chemistry between Cara and Travis was blazing, fitting since Travis is a fireman. I love it when a couple really works well together. Though they both try to deny their feelings throughout the book it all played well together and kept me glued to the page. The reading flow was just right making for a very well written story. The background characters played an important part in getting Cara and Travis to realize they belonged together. I especially like when his mother pretty much smacks him upside the head when he reveals why he avoids relationships. Leave it to a mom to get a man to open his eyes and see the terrific woman in front of him. The banter and sense of humor that Cara and Travis shared throughout the book was fun and exciting to read. The sex scenes were scorching hot, Travis knows how to keep a girl satisfied why would Cara want anyone else. Gotta love a man that’s good at dirty talk making it sexy and not cheesy. “Does that sweet, sexy way you say my name mean you’re about ready to come on my tongue?” he asked, giving her the dirtiest of dirty looks. Lauren Blakely does an excellent job developing the characters and breathing real life into the story. Cara and Travis were a real and believable couple. I will definitely go back and read the other two books in the series. This is my first read of a Lauren Blakely story but it most definitely will not be my last. *RECEIVED AN ARC FROM NETGALLEY IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW*

Originally posted on my blog: Tangled Up In Books I received a copy of this book, from the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. In no way did this sway either my review or my rating! When presented with the opportunity to read and review Lauren Blakely's latest installment of her sexy firefighter series, Fighting Fire, I believe my exact words were "...you had me at firefighter..." What can I say. A girl wants what she wants, and this girl wanted some sexy fireman action. And that's exactly what I got in Travis. You dangle a second chance romance in front of me and I am going to grab for it every single time. With Travis and Cara, I love how we have this sweet and steamy history between the two of them that goes all the way back to when they were teenagers. There was never anything negative that pulled them apart. Whenever they're near each other they are drawn to one another like magnets but when life sends them in separate directions they would just drift apart still with fond feelings. It brought a different kind of sweetness to they're relationship. There was no fighting off past mistakes it was just hot and heavy whenever the other was near. While, for the most part, I liked Cara's character...she was also that type of female that drives me completely crazy. The kind that see signs that aren't there, the kind who, for example, would hear a guy say something to them like "oh wow your haircut looks great" and their brain filters it into something more like "let's buy a house and fill it with babies!" Every soft caress or sweet word from Travis she would turn into a sign that he wanted what she did, that he was ready. All I could think was oh honey you are setting yourself up for some major heartbreak. I think if I were going to take issue with anything in this book though it would be the fact that I could probably count on half of a hand the number of times that Cara and Travis were together in a scene that did not lead to groping and touching and making out or some form of sexual situation. I know what you're probably thinking "Sheri, what were you expecting when you picked up an Entangled Brazen?" Okay I realize that smarty pants but I guess I just wanted a tiny bit more of the other stuff. Maybe more problems between the two of them or some of their funny cute stuff that involved the clothes staying on. Don't get me wrong I had a lot of fun reading Consumed by You and I will definitely be going back and reading the first two books in this series. When the antics of Travis and Cara didn't have me in full on swoon mode they had me laughing and grinning, as did their furry, four-legged companions. Absolutely worth the read. Thanks to Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book!

This was such an awesome story. An entertaining read with a ton of super sexy mixed in! Cara and Travis were great characters. I liked them in the beginning, but by the end I loved them. I enjoyed their growing connection and chemistry. I liked learning their history and watching them come together. They had a playfulness and flirtatiousness to them that really exploded into a lot of hotness. Consumed by You was a light, fun read with just a bit of drama and a whole lot of steamy. There was a really good introduction laying it all out and a nice emotional build throughout. The middle was really good but it felt slightly repetitive. I enjoyed the overall story but it was a little to smooth for me. I thought it had the best ending! Loved it and the super sweet epilogue. Loved the character connections! Especially the one that Travis was working with. That made my day. I always enjoy those references and how everything gets tied together. I loved the addition of the dogs and some of the antics they brought about. One part had me laughing out loud. Another awesome read from Lauren Blakely with likeable characters, a solid story, and serious sexy times! Complimentary copy received for honest review.
