Library JournalThese books show homes and apartments with modern, contemporary designs. Design writer Bradbury (New Country Houses) features 25 houses in countries along the Mediterranean coast in his first book in a new series. Through color photographs, floor plans, and text, he describes how the architect and owner worked together to create a home suited to the inhabitants' lifestyle and incorporating the primary feature of each setting, e.g., the sea.
Interior photographer von Einsiedel and Thornycroft (coauthors, The Provençal House) give a one-page description of primarily London abodes, their inhabitants, and their decorating choices, followed by captionless color photographs. Neither book is intended as a how-to, but both succeed in showing various modern decorating styles. Both are recommended for large professional and academic collections.
