***Content Warning - This is a new adult fiction with mature themes. It contains graphic sexual situations, mature language and explicit description of sexual violence.***

Paige Stone lived anything but a normal childhood. Having been raised around an abused women's shelter operated by her parents, Paige was a constant witness to the tragedy and heartache suffered by women at the hands of the men they trusted. Out of refusal to ever allow that to happen to her,... Paige built walls around her heart at a young age. Those walls were only fortified when tragedy struck on her sixth birthday and took from her the only friend and love she knew. Now at 22 years old, and working as a private investigator, Paige is driven by a deep need for strength, independence and a stubborn refusal to accept help from another person. Surrounding herself with her three best friends, Paige never assumed that the autonomy she had worked so hard to build could be challenged.

That was, until Paige met Daemon Pierce.

Mysterious, strong-willed, and breathtakingly beautiful, Daemon seemed to instantly know Paige better than she knew herself. Paige is disgusted by Daemon's reputation as a womanizer, but becomes intrigued when she is unable to discover his background. Paige's curiosity about Daemon proves to be her downfall as she is swept up in his charming and arrogant pursuit to possess her in every possible way.

For the first time in her life, Paige will struggle for control while Daemon slowly dismantles the walls she has built around herself. Only time will tell who will be victorious in their battle of wills as Daemon teaches Paige the weaknesses within herself that she never knew existed. Paige stays one step ahead in her struggle against Daemon's controlling ways, but when tragedy strikes her life a second time, she has to choose; will she put her life in danger, or will she finally accept a helping hand?

CONTROL is my favorite book of 2013 thus far.  This is the authors first ever release.  I swear this is a NY Times Best Seller.  As stated above Paige she grew up in a home where her parents sheltered abused women and their children.  She was determined to keep the walls she built over her heart after her closest friend and first love was suddenly removed from her life after a tragic event.  She's a PI and after meeting Daemon Pierce she can't find any information on him past the last 5 years.  Which is not totally strange givin his age.  Daemon seems to know how to read Paige just right.  He can tell when she's holding something back, when she's feeling upset about something, and when she's really wanting him while running from him. Daemon notices a tattoo Paige has on her left shoulder.  Instantly she feels him stiffen as he asks her about it.  It's a reminder of someone she loved and lost.  Why Paige feels the need to share all her secrets with Daemon is confusing to her.  She can feel her walls start to melt the more time she spends with him.  Oh, and did you see in the description that Daemon is a womanizer?  Paige has been warned several times to stay away from him.  Being the great PI she is she tries to go undercover to the bar he owns while he's working to see if she can find if Daemon is true to his word or if everyone's right about his love 'em and leave 'em ways.  This is probably one of the best scenes in the book.  These two are just too cute together.  So of course you know I've left out a huge part of the story and only focused on Daemon and Paige here.  There's lots of drama included in this story.  A friend of Paige who is a friend with benefits that's in love with her.  She does not reciprocate the feelings.  A gay male roommate, a female roommate who's always attracted to the wrong man.  This attraction may cause Paige and her friends their lives! What will happen to Paige and Daemon?  Someone wants Paige dead...will he be found and arrested?  Will her friends survive? My opinion: How many books do you read that you feel completely absorbed into the book?  Control was like that for me.  The instant I started reading this book I couldn't put it down.  I mean, really.  It has one thing after another in there and I wanted to know all the secrets.  The author has the right amount of suspense, romance, and fellowship in the book.  I'm already jonesin' for the second book.  Last year my favorite book of the year was Hopeless by Colleen Hoover.  It has lots of social "no no's" people don't like to talk about.  Well, Control has a bit of that with the shelter, murder, love, sex, stalking, friendship highs and lows, rape, angst, and Alpha Male control.  I felt all of Paige's emotions.  I sympathized with her.  I love her.  I'm on Team Daemon!  I promise you will not be disappointed by this book.  If you are....I don't know what to say as I think it's freakin' fantastic!! Out of 5 stars, I give Control a 10!

I absolutely loved this book. The setting. The camaraderie. The suspense. The action. The drama. Paige’s fierce independence. Daemon’s mysterious nature. The chemistry between Paige and Daemon. The sexual tension. So very, very much to love about Control, even the fact that it’s the first book in a series – which means more Paige and Daemon. Control is a great start to the series. Ms. Willis creates a character with Paige that I can so easily see as someone I grew up with, despite the somewhat sheltered nature of her life. Actually, it was the scene in the bar when she thinks to herself, “Oh no. He did not just utter fighting words.” and then lunges at the guy that sealed the deal for me. I went to high school with girls like that in the Panhandle of Florida, so between Paige’s mannerisms at times and the setting, it was like a trip back home for me. Of course, to properly balance out Paige’s feistiness, we must have an equally dominant male and Ms. Willis does an excellent job with Daemon. Sweet baby Jesus, that man is hot! I don’t care how many walls she had built around her heart, I cannot believe that Paige held out against him so long, but boy was it worth it. I could keep my apartment warm with the heat those two put off. And while I wouldn’t wish the situation on anyone and I hate how everyone was affected by it (sometimes realism sucks in a book), I loved the action and drama element that the author added with Paige’s stalker.  The only thing I didn’t love about the book was Paige’s inability to put two and two together at times, especially considering her job as an investigator. I was absolutely befuddled that it took her so long to come up with a suspect for her property’s vandalization. Actually her entire demeanor when the damage was discovered baffled me. Rather than getting mad and jumping to the glaringly obvious conclusion, her immediate reaction mirrored depression. I understand how important that particular property was to her, but her reaction seemed out of line with her character, even in the face of caffeine deprivation. That she never once during the course of the book had any thoughts about who Daemon is – even after learning that he didn’t exist until five or six year earlier – also floored me. While I realize that I don’t actually know who Daemon is and that Ms. Willis may very well have left a trail of false clues to make me feel like his true identity is obvious, just the fact that the thought never once crosses Paige’s mind frustrates me to no end. Did these two details keep me from enjoying the book? Not at all. I actually find it comedic that she is an investigator and both of these issues occur. I am looking forward to reading Conflict in a few days so I can get some answers and undoubtedly more questions.  I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.  Reviewed by Angela at Crystal's Many Reviewers!

I can't believe all the high reviews of this book. I realize this is a new author and I think she will improve in future books but please give an honest rating. This book reads like an amateur wrote it and is so unrealistic. The heroine is very unlikable and beyond stupid. I will read the second book and hope for much improvement.

Continuing stories are so frustrating, but this one at least came to a good stopping place and doesn't just leave you hanging mid-sentence like some do and I was so sucked into the story that it's worth having to wait to see what happens - as long as I don't have to wait too long!

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review. This is a romance novel with a very dark edge to it. However, I loved it! Paige Stone is a wonderful character. She is very strong willed and has an independent streak a mile wide. I liked her very much, but there were times I wanted to shake her! I can understand why she shut off her heart. If I had been brought up in a home, run by her parents, for abused women and children as she was, it would make me lose faith in the male of the species too! However, when she meets Daemon, her walls begin to break. Daemon Pierce is an enigmatic character. I was on the fence about him at the beginning, but as the story unfolded, I think I've fallen for him myself! He is a dangerous character - one I wouldn't want to cross, but his pursuit of Paige had my heart pounding for other reasons besides fear!  I was unsure about reading this book at first, but I was completely hooked from the first page! The characters are extremely lifelike. As I previously said, this is a romance novel, but it has a very dark and real edge to it that took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. This book is told from Paige's point of view, and there are flashbacks to her childhood and her first love, Buddy. These flashbacks are sometimes sad, sometimes happy. They gave me an insight as to why Paige shut off her heart - she was protecting it from being hurt again. I really felt for the 5 year old Paige, as she loved and lost for the first time. First love really never leaves you. Paige and Daemon make a fantastic couple, but there are some other fantastic characters in this book too. I loved meeting David, Alex and Annie, Paige's room mates. I laughed at some of the scenes. I found David extremely likable. I loved his sense of humour! It's a bit disappointing that he's already spoken for - his boyfriend would probably laugh at me though! Annie is a bit of a bubble head when it comes to picking boyfriends, and she sure picks the wrong ones! Alex is another great character. I actually felt bad for Alex when Paige meets Daemon, but the heart wants what the heart wants! M.S. Willis has written a fantastic contemporary romance! I am now looking forward to reading the next book, Conflict. This book contains scenes of abuse and violence, and also scenes of a sexual nature (although not overly explicit or erotic), which I do not recommend for younger readers or those of a sensitive nature. However, I highly recommend this book if you love contemporary romance, older YA or New Adult genres. - Lynn Worton

Star Rating: 4 out of 5 Heat Rating:  HOT! Wow!  I am not sure what I expected from this book but it definitely took me by surprise!  It had some surprise twists and turns and leaves the reader READY for book #2 without making you want to pull all your hair of your head while you wait (but I do need to read Conflict soon, please). M.S. Willis can write a story that makes you feel like you are living inside book, hanging out with the characters and truly experiencing everything along with Paige.  I particularly enjoyed how the flashbacks to childhood were handled, instead of constantly changing the time every other chapter the use of Paige's dreams came off as clever and very entertaining.   Paige is one tough cookie.  She is fiercely independent, she doesn't trust easily and is very guarded.  Watching Paige interact with Daemon who likes to be in charge and control is good reading indeed!  Daemon (sigh) is secretive, mysterious and confident in getting what he wants, when he wants it.  His take charge attitude and desire to control Paige is super HOT and not overbearing or degrading.  Control had me on a roller coaster ride from the beginning.  Every time I was SURE I knew where the story was going it turned or twisted up a bit, leaving me wanting more.  There was lust, humor, violence, mystery, passion and amazing sexual tension all mixed together to give you a book you can't put down and tapping your foot waiting for the next installment of the series.  If you want a book (series) that is different than most, I would recommend the Control series (heck, anything that M.S. Willis writes).  You are in for a drama and sex filled treat!
