Unique in combining into one book, the operational and selection characteristics of commonly used control devices with the thermal and response characteristics of HVAC processes. It presents step-by-step techniques for analyzing the response of actual control loops along with typical calibration procedures. This volume helps readers develop analytical skills used to diagnose and rectify operational problems in any system by focusing on how and why a process responds in a given manner to changes in a measured variable.

A valuable book for both technicians and engineers.

As a mechanical engineer well trained in controls, but new to HVAC, I find this book remedial and simplisitic in its approach to control and instrument theory, but an excellent primer in how control applies specifically to HVAC. For a tradesman in the HVAC industry, the book would serve the opposite purpose being remedial in HVAC details, but an excellent primer in control theory. Therein is the value of this book: it provides a middle ground for understanding between the two sides of the industry and I would strongly recommend it to both.
