Overview

In these face-to-face meetings with men and women of the Bible, Herbert O'Driscoll inspires us to reflect on scripture through the words and actions of some of its most vivid characters. Listening in on these imaginative encounters with Jacob, Ruth, Amos, Deborah, Caiaphas, and others gives us new insights into their motives, struggles, and often complex relationships with God.

He writes out of a conviction that, despite all its differences, the world of the Bible--its physical, moral, and spiritual terrain--is also our world and our community. These conversations across time with our ancestors in faith transport us to a place where we can be at home in the biblical world and meet people who are surprisingly much like ourselves.

About the Author
Herbert O'Driscoll, a native of Ireland, is an Anglican priest in Canada and the former rector of Christ Church in Calgary. He is widely known for his workshops on preaching and the spiritual life, and is a frequent session leader at the College of Preachers. He recently taught at St. George's College in Jerusalem.
