    An Amazing Book!

This is a wonderful compilation of conversations that Ms. Bullington Katz has had with very famous, well-known screenwriters, including Tom Stoppard, David Mamet, Callie Khouri, Anthony Minghella, Mike Leigh, Horton Foote, and many others. The author has a major talent in knowing just what to ask each writer, and in listening to their answer, in order to ask the next question. By the time one finishes reading an interview, they will feel that they 'know' the screenwriter in a very real sense. A terrific first published book, and I can't wait for more to come! A very gifted author and interviewer!

    A Must Read--

Whether a student, a scholar or a plain out-and-out fan of movies and TV, this is a must for the reference bookshelf. Susan Katz, off her own background and interests, was able to get to the right people, knew the right questions to ask, and got responses from her subjects that were meaningful far beyond the superficial Q&A answers one usually encounters in 'celebrity journalism.' (Disclosure: Susan and I have served for years on the editorial board of Written By, monthly magazine of the Writers Guild of America-West, where these pieces originally appeared. I was among the many board members who hounded her to think about getting them together and published in book form. Another example of what a great listener Susan is. ; -) )
