I love cookbooks, but this one is not one I'll keep. It has a LOT of recipes, supposedly from around the world, but many are repeated, and almost all are European, not from other continents. The editors have no way of informing us of which ones are known by different names in different countries, and if your grandmother called it something other than what these editors name it, good luck finding it!
There are photos for about every 6th cookie, but since they are arranged so that all the bar cookies are together, all the drop cookies are together, etc, you probably have an idea of what they look like without a photo.
I would have liked to see better organization for these cookies. They are not organized alphabetically, or by country of origin. And the index does not have individual cookies by name. Let's say you made Swiss Hearts one day and wanted to bake them a week later. You would have to page through the entire rolled cookies chapter to find them again.
One good thing for this, though, is that there is a good mix of ingredients - chocolate cookies do not make up the majority, and nuts and flavorings are used in ways we don't usually see them in the US.
