Really a recipe book. Better/more info on selecting, seasoning, cleaning, etc. Dutch ovens is available on a number of websites for free but this book has 100s of tried and true "real" recipes - ones you're actually likely to use on a camping trip. Too many DO books provide a selection of extravagant "Dutch oven competition" recipes that are more complicated and time-consuming than I'm willing to bother with on a camping trip but this book provides lots of "mix these 3 common ingredients, spice to taste and cook for 1 hour at 325" recipes that I will actually take time to make while dog-tired, hungry and distracted after a day of fun in the woods. I've used a bunch of them to feed Cub and Boy Scouts & their families and had no complaints yet.
