    Cooks Country

I love the magazine and I am so happy that all the recipes that I loved from the magazine are also in the book along with a bunch of new ones as well. It will be much easier for me to find the recipes I am looking for in one neat book. The Monte Cristos are awesome, btw!!! I also have the Family Cookbook from America's Test Kitchen and it is staple in the kitchen. America's Test Kitchen rocks, all their recipes really ARE fool proof.

Probably the best from America's Test Kitchens so far.

Love the show and love this cookbook! You have to try the Tennessee Whiskey Pork Chops. My family loved them.

    Great basic (not gourmet) cookbook

The folks at America's Test Kitchen provide extremely useful information and spot-on assistance to all cooks, new to experienced. This was a gift for a young bride and groom. The reports are very favorable! The compilation of regional recipes using on-hand ingredients, with very clear instructions makes for a winner. Gaining confidence in the kitchen is the key to years of good meals and enjoying the process. This book provides a great foundation for good (though not primarily health conscious) eating.

The Cooks Country Cookbook is great-just like their other cookbooks!

I've already tried the Pot Luck Macaroni and Cheese; I thought it was the best mac & cheese recipe I've made so far and my family loved it. I'm a wretched baker yet I was able to produce the book's Tunnel of Fudge Cake perfectly. I've also made the Old Fashioned Roast Pork-a great way to make something nice for a Sunday dinner that doesn't require a huge investment in a 'pricey' cut of meat. I'd already watched them do this particular recipe one Saturday morning on TV (PBS)-mine turned out just like theirs.

OK, maybe the America's Test Kitchen books aren't as glossy & sexy as the Food Network-type publications, however, this is a dependable, detailed cookbook with a wide variety of homey dishes and the recipes are almost idiot-proof. They provide a few words about why they do things the way they do (and don't) and are educational. This book also has some color photos which the America's Test Kitchen books don't usually have.

Excellent research notes on fine recipes

Cook's County Cookbook follows in the footsteps of the fine monthly Cook's Country. This is not a fancy cookbook; very few color pictures. What it does provide is world-class research on each recipe that helps eliminate potential pitfalls and create routinely tasty meals. We have used Cook's Country recipes for many company meals and always get lots of positive comments.
