Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Heather Christensen
This book of nine crafts using natural materials is well suited for camp directors, librarians, and others looking for kid-friendly green projects. Each project follows a basic formula with simple numbered steps and accompanying color photographs, text boxes with materials needed and creative tips, and a large color photograph of the completed project. Readers will find instructions for signs and vases made with sticks, decoupage candleholders, and even edible flowers. Most of the projects use readily available materials such as hot glue, ribbon, wire, and of course, twigs, flowers, and leaves. Though there is not a lot of originality—many of these projects can be found elsewhere—each project is clearly and simply outlined, making it easy for kids to follow on their own. A short glossary at the end of the book helps readers with unfamiliar terms and a handful of suggested books and websites will lead them to more information on green craft projects. Although somewhat slight on information, the book is a useful source for fun nature crafts. Part of the "Snap Books, Green Crafts" series. Reviewer: Heather Christensen
