Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carly Reagan
For young girls who aspire to dance, it is important to understand the kind of discipline and teamwork involved. For some of those girls, the idea of joining a school dance team is just as exciting as training classically. Of course, being on a school dance team requires that you be a leader in school and team spirit, and sometimes it is difficult to come up with ideas to accomplish this. From bigger suggestions such as making a list of pros and cons for whether being on a dance team is for you, to smaller details such as directions for decorating shoelaces, any young reader will find inspiration and concrete ideas. From cover to cover this book is filled with suggestions and fun facts about the world of dance, complete with a glossary of important words and an index in the back. The demographic to whom it is directed is a bit unclear, as the style of book is appropriate for girls too young to be on most school dance teams quite yet, though it can be good to prepare ahead of time. For girls this young who love to dance, though, maybe it is best to just focus on the discipline and teamwork of traditional dancing in the first place; and work on the school spirit when it applies.
