Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Danielle Williams
Joining a group can be the best and easiest way for children to learn new skills. This is especially true when children begin to learn music. One of the best places that children can learn about music is by joining a school band or choir. Watching their peers learn new skills encourages children to expand their own knowledge and try harder to become accomplished musicians in their own right. Kenney not only describes different musical groups offered at most schools, she encourages children to create their own musical groups. The author describes easy ways for children to form their own groups and how to raise money for those groups for competitions or instruments and other supplies that the group may need to perform. Full color photos show students engaging in band, orchestra and choir activities, as well as creating the projects outlined in the text. Step-by-step instructions, accompanied make the simple tasks even easier to perform. The text is part of the "Cool School Spirit" series. Reviewer: Danielle Williams
