A great book about a touchy subject. I wake up each day knowing I'll never see my Josh again and my heart breaks over and over again. This book is very factual about processes you should know about and the feelins that will occur and when. I am on my way to healing. If you are in a sinmiliar situation ...read this book!

When I lost my american bulldog to spleen cancer that spread to his blood cells and heart, I was devistated and depressed. I found this book and it helped me with my sorrow, depression and lonliness. As I read through the chapters, I found my depression slowly lifting. It felt good to read other people had the same type of feelings as I did and that it's Okay to cry. I recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with the immense sorrow of losing a pet.

The 2nd edition of this book (which I'm sure is not so different from the current edition) has been sitting on my bookshelf for several years. I can't even remember when I got it. But this week, my precious 13-year-old schnauzer died, and I pulled it off the shelf and started reading. It is a wonderful book. I could identify with all those people who contributed their stories. It was like group therapy! My heart feels like it has a hole in it, but just reading this book brought comfort. Thank you, Moira Anderson, for this wonderful contribution to animal lovers.
