    The Pulse of America

As long as we have Copeland, we have the heartbeat of America keeping us alive. His music circulates in us like the Fourth of July and dawn touching the Rocky Mountains. It is true that Berstein's interpretations have the hasty rhythm of early jazz and there are probably richer renditions. But raw energy and strong interpretations give the music the vitality America has always had. When we don't have it anymore, we will be effete and without our pulse. Lose Berstein's strings in Appalachian Spring, and the love goes out of the world.

    Copland's Music Is Wonderful!

Copland has made a wonderful impact on American music. Teachers, this selection is great for use in the classroom. Appalachian Spring teaches geography. Listen and draw to music. Copland's music is used all the time in advertisements. A wonderful American composer.
