Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Our friend Corduroy lives on and is appearing in a series of "Viking Easy-to-Read" books. In this story Lisa notices that the cookies she gets from the bakery have less sprinkles than usual. Her mother suggests that she write a letter. Lisa decides that no one would listen to a kid, so she doesn't, but Corduroy does. What a nice surprise when the baker actually adds more sprinkles the next time they go to buy cookies. The same scenario is repeated when part of a theater sign light is outCorduroy again has success with his letter. In the last story, Lisa finally writes to a radio station and asks for her favorite song. When they play it, she and Corduroy have a grand time dancing to the music. The illustrations, with heavy black lines, are full of texture and have a look that makes them seem more appropriate to the time period of the original story by Freeman.
