Children's LiteratureThis board book was not really written by Don Freeman, but is based on his character, Corduroy. It is snowing and Corduroy and his friends are outside enjoying the opportunity to go sledding and to build a snowman and snow fort, where they engage in a snowball fight. They make the long trudge up the hill, pulling their sleds, and then all too soon the ride down has ended. After all that wonderful exercise outdoors, Corduroy and his friends come inside to enjoy hot chocolate in front of a roaring fire. Like the book Biscuit's Snowy Day, I really have to wonder how many kids today end up sitting in front of a roaring fire drinking hot chocolate or cocoa. 2005, Penguin, Ages 1 to 3.
