Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
There are a surprising number of cookbooks on corn and tomatoes, notably Betty Fussell's Crazy for Corn (LJ 4/15/95) and Joanne Weir's You Say Tomato (LJ 8/98), but then they are among our favorite summer foods. The first volumes in a new series, each of these offers 70 or so recipes along with information on growing your own corn or tomatoes (or choosing them at the market), varieties, history, and other selected trivia and lore. The recipes are fresh and mostly simple (though some of the corn dishes are somewhat more involved), and Mack, food editor of the Hackensack Record and author of The 15-Minute Chef (LJ 2/15/99), has an engaging writing style and a sense of humor.
