    A Truly Fascinating Play

Just as the previous reviews, I have no more but high praise upon reading this play. However, I must warn the reader, due to the subject matter, that it's feasible to say that one will either love or despise it with hardly any median. The play is about a modern tale of the coming of Christ mixing the original stories with a gay central character who is the son of God. The play has its nativity scene and continues the stories of this young man with his 12 disciples. The script is powerfully written with its tidbits of humour. From the preface and first scene until the very end, I was very much engrossed into it mainly because of the harsh reality of the characters. In a matter of few words it can provoke extreme emotions. Terrance McNally wrote in his preface: 'How could they do this to Him. How could they do this to Him.' I sincerely hope that anyone who reads this play will be able to see past personal beliefs against homosexuality and discover an enlightening play.

    Deeply moving and heartfelt

'Corpus Christi' is the most meaningful re-telling of the life of Christ that I can imagine. It is a play that tells an eternal story in bitingly accurate contemporary terms. I pity the man who is not moved by this eloquent play.
