Overview

First in a new series about some hard-riding rodeo cowboys...and the women who can rein them in.

Sports therapist Lainie Capshaw has been rehabilitating injured cowboys long enough to know that a charming western drawl combined with a fine physical form doesn't mean you fall for the man.

So no one is more surprised than Lainie when she finds herself involved with not one, but two different men: Hank Lawson, a bullfighter, and Kyle Gilchrist, a bull rider. Lainie feels guilty about her two-timing, but it doesn't keep her from doubling her fun-that is until Hank catches her with Kyle.

She's shocked that Hank isn't mad. But she's more shocked to learn Hank and Kyle are hometown buddies. But when the men offer to share her-in every way-she knows that she's going to have to choose the one man who can give her the ride of her life...

Beware - Overpriced but have not read the story yet

Just wanted you to be aware that this is only 263 pages and I paid $9.99 for it. The second book in the series, "Saddled and Spurred" is only 259 pages. I'm sure it is a good read as I love Lorelei James but I feel ripped off on the price. B&N needs to put the amount of page numbers in description. For that much money, I expected a pretty long read based on content/prices in the "Rough Riders" series. Thanks.

    I Also Recommend:

Two Sexy Cowboys + One Lucky Lady= A Very Hot Romance

Corralled is the first book in Lorelei James's new Blacktop Cowboy series. This was one of my most anticipated reads this year because I am completely and utterly devoted and in love with her Rough Riders series. I've come to expect an emotional and compelling read that goes well beyond what you might expect from an erotic romance. Yes, these books are hot, hot, hot, but it's the emotion and the characters that drive the story which make her love scenes beyond compare. She's my favorite contemporary erotic romance writer for a reason, and Corralled is her most sexually driven erotic romance yet.

Corralled is a m/f/m ménage, however it is unlike most that are being written today. No matter how well written and convincing a ménage plot is there is always a thought where I wonder if a committed and loving relationship between two alpha males and one female can really work without jealousies and problems. Corralled presents that dilemma to the reader, and it's not all copacetic.

Hank and Kyle are two very alpha and possessive cowboys who agree to share her, but neither sees this as a long term solution. Each wants Lainie for themselves..alone. And in the end Lainie does have stronger feelings and falls in love with just one of them. But the reader is left guessing which one she might choose until one special scene towards the end of the book after they all make love together, where Lainie reveals her feelings to the one not chosen. I loved that the complexities and realities of a ménage relationship were addressed in Corralled. I loved that in the end Lainie fell "in love" with only one of them, even though she will always love the other as well.

Most of the story is told through their sexual encounters because the men compete with each other through their intimate time with Lainie as a way to show their love and affection for her. However that is not the only thing this book is about. The heart of the book it is not about sex, but about Lainie and everyone she has relationships with in her life.most of them slightly dysfunctional. Her relationship with her mother is strained; her relationship with her mentor and employer is not all that she believes and trusts in, her relationship and growing feelings with Hank and Kyle and how she at first chooses to avoid making a choice and her missing relationship with the father who died a rodeo icon.

Lainie's journey in Corralled is short, but intense, and yes very sexual. However, I wish that there would have been a few more scenes between Lainie, Hank and Kyle outside of the love scenes. I also wished that the story would have begun when she first started her relationship with each man instead of at the point that Kyle and Hank found out about each other. Would it have made a difference to the story? Probably not, it's just a pet peeve of mine to not be there as a reader when the hero and heroine start their journey towards love (unless it's a reunion story). These are just two issues that I had in an otherwise great romance with cowboy heroes that are definitely hard to choose between. Lainie was one lucky lady :) Corralled will not disappoint fans of Lorelei James and is a promising beginning to a series that I hope becomes as beloved as her Rough Riders.

    a lighthearted frolic

Sports therapist Lainie Capshaw has worked with injured cowboys for years. She knows to ignore the hunks and their seductive manners as she performs her rehabilitation. Her refrain is: don't let herself fall for cowboys.

Thus she is stunned after being so successful ignoring them; Lainie is attracted to Hank Lawson the bullfighter and Kyle Gilchrist the bull rider. She enjoys both men, but also feels guilty that she sees each behind the stout back of the other. That is until judgment day comes when Hank finds her stepping out with Kyle. Neither Hank nor Kyle seem upset and in fact are buddies. Each wants her, but Lanie is reluctant as she knows she should choose which cowboy she prefers riding on into the sunset.

The first Blacktop Cowboys romance is a lighthearted frolic starring three strong protagonists and plenty of bull. The story line is fast-paced as Hank and Kyle compete as friendly rivals for the affection and love of Lainie, who has rodeo baggage that holds her somewhat back. Readers will be Corralled with the need to know who she chose; that is if she selects either.

Great New Cowboy Series - Book 1!

These "Blacktop Cowboys" really get under your skin & into your imagination. "Corralled" is the story of Melanie (Lainie), a medical tech who takes care of injured bull riders on the circuit. She encounters Hank & Kyle - two very different cowboys, but ALL cowboy. This is a great intro story - with great emotion, hot times & lots to think on. . . Can't wait for Book 2.

    Great Read

This was a great book and having read other menege books before I like the different way this one approached the subject. Lorelei James has a way of really drawing you and making you really care about what happens to all the characters in the story. While the s*x is hot, the story is what is compelling and keeps you interested. I hated to put the book down. Lots of interesting twists as well to keep you on the edge of your seat. I really recommend this great book and can't wait for the next one.

    The Romance Review Top Pick

It's Lorelei James y'all. What else do I need to say?

Corralled was so much more than I expected. I expected hot cowboys and a strong heroine I could identify with. I expected the fun story and the way Lorelei James pulls me into her world with ease. But knowing it was a ménage story, I also had the expectation that the two best friends would be eager to share lovely heroine, Laney, and that they would be a united front in bringing her over to the dark side.

    Not so much.

    And frankly, that was refreshing.

These two childhood best friends discover they are both dating the same girl. She won't choose so they come up with the idea of sharing, ménage style. The only thing is, neither really wants to share her. Neither thinks that a polyamorous marriage is in their future. They expect her to pick one of them. Competitiveness ensues. Jealousy abounds. There are most definitely hot ménage encounters which they all enjoy (especially Lainie), but unlike all the other ménage stories I've read, the focus is on the one on one moments.

There were so many unexpected surprises to this story. So many twists and turns that took the book far from where I expected it to go. I hesitate to even give a summery, sending you to the publisher's description instead; for fear that I will spoil any of the fun.

Suffice it to say, two cowboys team up to spend three weeks traveling the rodeo circuit and wooing med tech Lainie Capshaw, the daughter of a famed bull rider who died on the horns of his ride when she was eight. Lainie never expected to date one cowboy, much less two. And don't expect her to choose, because she just can't.
All three find themselves at a crossroad in their lives. Together they unearth their individual pasts and confront their present lives in order to make a choice for their future.

Expect to be sucked in, blush, scream in frustration, cheer in celebration, be surprised and be satisfied. Corralled is as wild and unpredictable as a buckin' bronc. Enjoy!

    Excellent weekend read!!!

Another excellent weekend read!!! Lorelei James has another winner book series beginning here with Corralled. The story line and characters keep the pages turning with thrills, chills, and handfuls of lust turned love to boot. I just finished reading all the books in her Rough Riders series and without a doubt this series is going to be right up there with the got to reads. I've already put the next book due out in March 2011 on my wish list. Warning... as a reader you'll not be able to read just one book by this author.

I LOVE Lorelei James. But I gotta say I was less than impressed with this book. I give it about a 3 - 3 1/2 stars. I have bought the other two books in the series hoping for the best.

    Surprised!

First off, I hate 3-somes where one gets tossed to the curb in the end. I won't buy those. Romances are supposed to have HAPPY endings. But! Because this was Lorelei, and I love her Rough Riders series, I got it. And like I said above...I was totally surprised. Two hot cowboys are competeing for her, Lainie Capshaw, "TOGETHER": she doesn't lead them on, they're all honest with each other, and they all have level [jealous at times] heads about their situation. The story is actually quite sweet...and damn near laugh-out-loud with LJ's quick wit...but when Lainie actually does allow her heart to drift towards one...it all actually ends up okay. [AND THERE BETTER BE A STORY FOR THE COWBOY LEFT BEHIND] =) I love Rodeos & Cowboys, and get so thrilled when I hear LJ is writing another one, which seems like a fun, new fairytale being spun 'just for me', lol. Now, everytime I hear someone yell "SWITCH!", I know exactly where my mind is gonna go!!! <3 To these two steamy rodeo studs and a saddle...
